Weekly Update --August 18, 2017
Dear Parents,

I am sure everyone is aware, the United States will be experiencing a Solar Eclipse on Monday, August 21 st . This is quite an event!! Our teachers will be talking about it, teaching about it and watching it. All of this will take place indoors.

The decision was made for our students to stay inside during the period of the eclipse (approximately 1:15 – 4:15). This was done to protect them from any damage to their eyes that could result from looking directly at the sun. If you would like to pick up your children early to take them to see it feel free to do so. On this day we will NOT have a regular carline. Parents will be asked to pick their children up in their classrooms. As always your child should stay with you as you walk from the school to your car. The students who attend extended care wilI be escorted to the Parish Center. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, I prefer to err on the side of caution.

Check out the NASA website dedicated to "Eclipse 2017" - it has some very interesting information. NASA website

Enjoy your weekend!!

Have you heard of the book Resisting Happiness by Matthew Kelly? It's a great/easy read for people who want to take some time to think about how they can become "the best version of their selves". If you are interested in finding out more Mrs. Lisette Shields created a podcast that can be used with it. Her contact information is in the school directory which you will receive on Thursday evening at the H & S meeting.

Festival Planning Meeting

Our Festival is one of our major fundraisers of the year and it can’t come together without a whole lot of manpower. Michelle Kline has stepped up to chair the event again this year and she is looking for helpers.  Please try to make the planning meeting on Wed. August 23rd 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm at Harvey's 4th Street Grill.  Volunteering is the best way to become part of our St. Raphael community. Many key spots have been filled but we are still in need – particularly in the area of food.

Please email Michelle Kline if you can be there OR if you can't be there but want to join in to help michellekline62@gmail.com .
