Election 2016: It's a Wrap!

None of us can escape the conversations from last week's election results.  So what's next?  Your Chamber was engaged on your behalf in the 2016 election process through hosting candidate forms - 14 this past Fall.  Local candidates at the city, county and school board levels completed candidate questionnaires as part of our Voter Guide.   In total, we worked with 64 different candidates at the local, state and federal level.  And now our 2017 priorities begin to take shape and will likely remain very similar to last year:  business property tax reform, transportation, wage/labor mandates, and of course, health care reform.   Check out the final results of all the races in Dakota County and watch for more info over the next several weeks as we profile the elected officials representing our communities and legislative districts in 2017.

We were also active through your Chamber's Political Action Committee.  We endorsed 13 pro-business legislative candidates in Dakota County - with 70% success.

Endorsed in House:  51B - Laurie Halverson - elected; 52A - Richard Hansen - elected; 52B - Regina Barr - elected; 56A - Drew Christensen - elected; 56B - Roz Peterson - elected; 57A - Ali Jimenez Hopper - not elected; 57B - Anna WiIls - elected; 58A - Jon Koznick - elected; 58B - Patrick Garofalo - elected

Endorsed in the Senate:  52 - Mark Misukanis - not elected; 56 - Dan Hall - elected; 57 -Cory Campbell - not elected; 58 - Tim Pitcher - not elected

We know you're busy. We also know you care about issues that impact your business and your employees. You barely have time to read the newspaper, let alone follow the actions of the Minnesota Legislature 24 hours a day. That's our job, not yours.  Did we make a difference?  We believe so!  Take a peek at a message we received on election day.
