Eight Days.

In eight days, the commercials on TV will change from campaigns to Christmas. In eight days, it will be one of the only days all year when it is acceptable for adults to wear stickers. In eight days, we will finally know who will lead our country for the next four years.

Between now and then, be sure to check out our Voter Guide. Our Voter Guide provides you with information on candidates running in local and state elections throughout Dakota County. Learn more about candidate views through their completed questionnaire or watch the Candidate Forums. You can also find information on registering to vote, find your polling place, view sample ballots and watch Election Day results. Vote November 8!
Are You Ready for December 1?

New workplace overtime regulations take effect in 30 days. Has your business made the necessary changes to comply with this new federal law?  Simply stated, any employee making less than $47,476 annually must be paid hourly, thereby qualifying them for overtime pay above 40 hours per week. Of course there are more provisions, but find out more on how to safeguard your workplace by reviewing the Fair Labor Standards Act 2016 or reach out for a formal legal opinion.
Local Business Councils Kick-Off

In an effort to keep you better connected with the communities you live and work in, your Chamber will be hosting quarterly Business Council meetings in Eagan, Farmington, Mendota Heights, Rosemount, and West St. Paul. The Vikings are Coming!
Foundation Work on Twin Cities Orthopedics Performance Center Begins

While site preparation has been underway for months, today marks a major milestone for the Minnesota Vikings and the City of Eagan as foundation work begins on the Twin Cities Orthopedics Performance Center. The significant moment comes on the heels of the City Council's formal approval of the Vikings final construction plans for Phase I, which includes the team's headquarters and practice facility.

Meanwhile, the new Vikings Parkway is being constructed while site prep for the new Twin Cities Orthopedics medical building is also ongoing. Current subcontractors working on the project include Frattalone (mass excavation & site utilities), Ted Mannstedt & Sons (structural steel supplier) and Northland Concrete & Masonry.

With the work on the performance center moving at a rapid pace, remnants of the property's previous occupants are quickly moving off the site. Following a recent auction for items in the former Northwest Airlines simulator building, demolition of the simulation building is scheduled to begin on November 1.

To stay up to date on the Twin Cities Orthopedics Performance Center on the Vikings website or watch the team's  24-hour live streaming camera.

Member Spotlight: Professional and Personal Growth

Dan Sjolseth, Superior Service Center
Superior Service Center provides auto repair, auto body, tire, and towing service with locations in Eagan and Apple Valley. In 1987 when I moved my business to  Eagan, one of the first things I did was to join the Chamber. I soon found there was an incredible benefit of meeting other members of the Chamber as many of them acted like a mentor to me. My goal was to meet and network with other local business owners and also to work together to coordinate special community events. I feel that the Chamber has offered me professional and personal growth through my engagement in networking events and as a new board member.
