Elections 2017: One More Week For Filing

2017 is a fairly quiet year when it comes to elections.  Within our region, two school boards each have three open positions:  Independent School District 196 (Rosemount, Eagan, Apple Valley) and School District 197 (Mendota Heights, West St. Paul, Eagan).

The period for filing affidavits of candidacy for the office of School Board member  began  on August 1, 2017 and closes at 5:00 p.m. on August 15, 2017.  All candidates must file during this two-week period in order to be placed on the ballot.  For more information please contact the respective school district office.
Get Inspired By "What Is"

Join us for Women's Circle on August 17.  Our featured speaker, Ruth Bachman, has a mission is to equip individuals with the perspective and resources necessary to navigate the inevitable changes that occur in life, by design or by happenstance, while recognizing the powerful potential for transformation by embracing "what is".  That mission grew out of a life-changing diagnosis and treatment of cancer resulting in the amputation of her dominant left hand.

Highway 110 Westbound Closure Begins Today

Motorists traveling westbound on Highway 110 will encounter a closure and a detour between Interstate 494 and Interstate 35E beginning at 12:01 a.m. Monday, Aug. 7 (following the opening of eastbound Highway 110).

Motorists wishing to travel westbound on Highway 110 should follow the signed detour using westbound I-494, northbound I-35E and eastbound Highway 110 in order to bypass the closure.  The north and south movements will remain open at the intersections of Highway 149/Dodd Road, Delaware Avenue and Highway 110. However, there will be several intersections that may be restricted or closed throughout the work zone. M otorists traveling eastbound on Highway 110 will use their usual lanes.

Work on Highway 110 between Highways 13/55 and I-494 is expected to run though fall 2017.   For more details about this project visit the project website.

Member Spotlight: Active Involvement

Anna Gunderson, Dougherty, Molenda, Solfest, Hills & Bauer, P.A.

I'm an associate attorney at Dougherty, Molenda, Solfest, Hills & Bauer P.A., an 18-attorney law firm located in Apple Valley.  Our firm provides legal services in a variety of practice areas and industries.  My practice focuses on estate planning and probate, helping clients prepare wills, trusts, health care directives and guardianship documents, among other things.  When someone dies (either with a will or without one), I help their loved ones manage the estate, which sometimes involves a probate proceeding in court.  Having a clear plan for what happens after you're gone is one of the greatest gifts you can give your loved ones.  I enjoy creating individualized plans for clients, and I try to make the experience as painless as possible for them.

Our law firm has been a member of the chamber since 1991, and I have been active since I joined the firm in 2015. I attend the Emerging Leaders and Women's Circle events. More recently, I've become an Ambassador.  I appreciate the relationships I've already established and look forward to continuing to work on behalf of our chamber!
