The Gym was a Jumpin'

Grades 1-4 jumped their hearts out for the annual "Jump Rope for Heart" fundraiser. Money raised from this energetic event benefits the American Heart Association, helps children with heart issues, and educates the community on the signs of heart attack. Click here for photos.

We raised $1,048.00. Way to go FSH!
PTO Meeting and Parent Potluck Social

The  Parent PTO Potluck Social was a lovely evening filled with good food and conversation. Parents brought a delicious dish to share and had an informal PTO Meeting discussing upcoming events. Look for volunteer opportunities coming this spring.  Click here for photos.
Chinese Animal Portraits

Grades 1/2 have been learning about China. One of their assignments was to research an animal from China, write about it, and then paint a portrait of that animal. There were some very creative pieces of art such as a giant panda, red panda, and snub-nose monkey.  Click here for photos.
Celebrating St. Patrick's Day

In celebration of St. Patrick's Day, Kindergarten had a visit from a classmate's parents who brought in an authentic drum from Ireland. Each student had the opportunity to make their own drum using round take-out trays and then decorating them with Irish-themed drawings and stickers. Many more activities will be going on throughout the day. Look out for leprechauns! Click here for photos.
Prekindergarten and Community Service

Prekindergarten has been working on a helping unit and assembled "soup in a jar" for a community service project. Each student had a chance to layer all the ingredients for a delicious curried lentil soup that Tr. Melissa will deliver to the Ardmore Food Pantry. Also, Tr. Sandra had the class help make Irish soda bread.  Click here for photos.

Author Visit

Nahjee Grant will be joining us at FSH to share about his experiences as an author and to read from his book. For middle school, he'll also guide our students in a mentor-type conversation on code-switching and his experience as an African American student in a predominately White school experience. He is a community builder in the Ardmore and Philadelphia area.  Nahjee has an amazing way with students and there is an incredible power to his storytelling!  Click here for available books.
Ardmore Food Pantry Collection

In addition to their "Soup in a Jar" service project, the Pre-Kindergarten class is currently collecting non-perishable food items and full-size toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, toothbrushes, and toothpaste) for the Ardmore Food Pantry.  If you would like to contribute, please feel welcome to add items to the collection bags (located at the Main Office and Pre-Kindergarten classroom) anytime through dismissal on Thursday, March 22.

Donate to the Annual Fund with Just a Click!

Please join the circle of families that support FSH students and teachers through the Annual Fund by making a gift to this effort before June 30, when the 2017-2018 Annual Fund campaign closes. Our Annual Fund gifts go beyond closing the gap between the amount of tuition we pay and the actual costs of educating our children. Every Annual Fund gift helps make the Friends School Haverford experience exciting, enriching, and memorable for each and every student.
