Are You a Survivor?

The WomeE's Conference is excited to announce our keynote speaker, Holly Hoffman. Holly was the last remaining member of the Espada Tribe and the last woman standing on Season 21 of CBS' hit reality show "Survivor Nicaragua". Through that experience, and others throughout her life, Holly was inspired to share her message of positivity, determination and confidence with business leaders, teachers, and students across the nation. Join us and explore what your true survival skills are.

In addition to hearing for Holly Hoffman, attendees will hear from our panel of Women of Excellence Award winners, participate in breakout sessions, build new connections and engage with the interactive Health and Wellness Marketplace. Register today and learn more about being a Marketplace exhibitor, donating wine, and contributing to our conference bags!

Understanding New Advantages in Health Care for Small Businesses

stethoscope_dr_pad.jpg
Your Chamber has long advocated for changes in state law to increase small employers' options for providing health insurance to their employees. Our push for more options has become increasingly important in recent years as small employers have struggled to keep up with rising costs in the fully-insured small group market. As evidence of this, the number of small employers in the small group market has shrunk by 8,000 employers. That's roughly 1/3 of the small group market. Last week Governor Dayton signed into law bipartisan legislation providing a premium relief to those buying health insurance in the individual health insurance market in 2017. While providing relief to the individual market was certainly the focus of the legislation, the bill also included important Chamber-backed provisions for small employers as well.

The Vikings Are Coming!
Steel Work on Vikings Team Headquarters Nearly 2/3 Complete

Minnesotans driving by the new Twin Cities Orthopedics Performance Center are beginning to notice the facility taking shape above ground. The most notable feature is the team auditorium where steel decking has been installed, giving a glimpse into the primary meeting location for Vikings players and coaches. Total steel erection on the team headquarters is nearly 2/3 complete, and the steel for the indoor practice facility will begin mid-February. The anticipated steel "topping off" is April 2017.

Crews have now put in more than 30,000 work hours on the project. In the final weeks of January, the daily crews grew to more than 80 men averaging nearly 4,000 hours per week. To stay up to date on the Twin Cities Orthopedics Performance Center on the Vikings  website or watch the team's  24-hour live streaming camera.

Member Spotlight: These Experiences are Truly Priceless

Hannah Steinmetz, Dakota Chiropractic
It has always been my dream to work one on one with people and care for their health. Becoming a chiropractor has allowed me to realize that dream in, literally, a "hands-on" way. Working alongside patients to achieve their goals of health and wellness has been more satisfying than I could have imagined. Becoming a business owner was a more recent dream. One year ago, I opened Dakota Chiropractic in Eagan (next door the Chamber offices, in fact!). One of the best pieces of advice I received from my mentors at that time, was to join the local Chamber. It has been such an incredible opportunity to be a part of the DCR Chamber. I have met wonderful people that I am constantly learning from. It has given me a chance to see examples of individuals and teams thriving in their businesses and a goal to set my sights to. These experiences are truly priceless!
