Weekly Update

I'm back from my staycation. It was good to spend a week with my two guys and relax, well, as much as possible I relaxed. I am putting the finishing touches on the newsletter, some exciting initiatives are in the works but details have not been finalized.  We a bit crazed getting ready for our Golf Tournament on August 18th. So I put the newsletter on the back burner, I should have it for you next week !

Still part of Summer left, a couple of weeks ago I shared  a local resource  that might be a fun activity for kids aged 13 and up.   Central Rock Gym offers an adaptive climbing event  each month . CRG Adaptive Climbing events are being held the first Sunday of each month from 10am - 12pm. ( although the 1st session is August 13th!) Check it out here.

Friday Fun this week is  Fun in the Sun at Dunn Park in Gardner. I had a chance to visit Dunn Park with my son on my week of vacation for the first time and was favorably impressed. What a lovely place - If you have never gone it's worth the trip! If I didn't have a meeting scheduled for Friday morning I'd play hookey and join you there!

I told you a few weeks ago that this summer we are fortunate to have some charity numbers for the New Balance  Falmouth Road Race again, and we've some amazing people ru nning to raise money for our Center. Scroll down to read about one more of our runners, Amanda Pitt. Amanda works at HMEA as the VP of Residential and Family Services. We are so fortunate that HMEA supports ur efforts for all of you!

Just a reminder that Nominations for our Guiding Stars Awards at our 20th year Gala will close this month, if it's on your to-do list now's the time to get this done & in the mail! ( see below) Save the date October 20th and join us for this celebration of our village. I challenge you all to join the 20 for 20 Challenge! What is this? Check it out here! I have begun my page and seeking donations!

Also Registration for Family Fun Days at Camp closes this Friday! This week long program has been a great way for families over the years to connect, form friendships and create bonds that sustain them through the entire year. The Kids? They just have fun!  Cid went out this year and became certified as an Archery Instructor so we'll be able to have archery every day, and we've some programs that Camp Marshall will be providing that should prove entertaining. A Horse Show on Sunday, ( so those of you who work will have a chance to join in the fun!) Small Animal program, stick ponies and Pumpernickle Puppets will be with us as well, not to be missed! I always joke that this is the "Burger King" of camps, you can have it your way. Come one day, every day, part of a day but come and join in the fun and create memories for your kids. They only get 1 childhood, it should have some fun ! Click here to register.

Hope to see you soon !

MEET AMANDA PITTS

My Name is Amanda Pitts and I am the VP of Residential and Family Supports at HMEA.
I have worked in behavioral health for the last 15 years and value the importance of having resources to assist families navigate through most times in their experience unchartered waters.  The Autism Resource Center offers families information and referrals, education, and family supports and networking.  These services are critical to support our children and families affected by Autism Spectrum Disorders.    I am running this race to raise awareness for Autism and to support HMEA's Autism Resource Central!

If you'd like to support any of our runners to support them as they run to support you, visit our New Balance Falmouth Road Race  Fundraising page  at https://www.firstgiving.com/arccm/NBFRR
