FatherDear School Parents,

Lenten blessings! I was very much struck by the reverence of our 8th graders as they assisted me in distributing ashes on Ash Wednesday. When I had finished distributing I turned around to see one young man down on one knee carefully distributing ashes to a kindergartener. Now in my third year at St. Mike's, I appreciate more and more the leadership shown each year by our 8th grade class. I'm very much looking forward to seeing this year's presentation of Living Stations of the Cross on March 23 when we will also be celebrating Grandparents/Special Persons Day.

I'm writing to update you on the search process for our next school principal. As I wrote in late January, we had opened the process and were accepting applications through February 15. I am working with a committee that includes Dr. Dan Edwards, Neal Hauser, Dee Dee Loberg, Nikki Draine, John Weaver, and Shelly Hayes. After consultation with School Advisory Council, committee members were chosen for their experience in areas including education, administration, and human resources.

We received 10 applications including Mrs. Hamill's application. After review by a subcommittee, we have chosen to interview 3 candidates. Those interviews will be held in early March, and I hope to have more news for you around the time you return from spring break.

I'm grateful for the good work being done by Mrs. Hamill and all the staff of St. Michael's Catholic School. I appreciate your prayers for this process as we select our next principal. Please be assured of my prayers for your families for a fruitful Lent and a joyous Easter.

Christ's Peace,

Fr. Tom Walker, Pastor
