Tonight we hosted our Fall Open House. I am happy to report, it was a success! Thank you to those families who recommended our school to their friends. It is the best compliment we can receive.

In preparation for this event we have been making sure our school represents what each of us already know, that is, we are excellent in developing the whole child.  I love hosting open houses as it gives me an opportunity to share St. Michael with our community.

Both you and I know that being a part of the St. Michael community is being part of a family.  Together we work to ignite spiritual, academic and social growth within each one of our children. Being educated under one roof from preschool through eighth grade is a great gift that we are able to give to our children. Teachers truly know and love each student and are able to communicate each child's needs to the next grade's teacher. Together we take our middle school students through the uncertain years of adolescence.  We support them in remembering their giftedness while holding them accountable. Now that is family! Thank you for giving your child the best Prior Lake/Savage has to offer in education, St. Michael Catholic School.

I am excited to announce we have an addition to our middle school staff, Ms. Lori Taormina. Ms. Taormina is the Middle School Faith Formation Director at St. Michael Catholic Church. She will be teaching one seventh grade religion class starting with the second quarter. Ms. Taormina's passion for educating children in our Catholic faith is quite evident when you visit with her. Please join me in welcoming Ms. Taormina to our school community!

Blessings,

loriWelcome Ms. Taormina!

Lori Taormina is the Director of Middle School Faith Formation and Youth Minister at St. Michael's Catholic Church and starting on November 14  will be teaching a seventh  grade Religion Class for the school. She graduated from the College of St. Scholastica with a Bachelor's degree in Religious Studies and Theology in 2007.  From there she served as the youth minister at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Savage for 5 years, and the Pastoral Associate for Youth Formation at Mary, Mother of the Church in Burnsville for 2 years.

Ms. Taormina became involved in youth ministry thanks to her mother and father and 3 siblings.  She was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA and is an avid Steelers fan.  During her free time, she enjoys working out, cooking, reading, watching Netflix, and boating on Lake Minnetonka with her fiancé.  She is looking forward to meeting the group of seventh  graders in her class and many more of the middle schoolers during upcoming youth ministry activities!

Guiding Our Children through Life's Challenges:
Becoming the Best Version of Ourselves

How can we bring positive energy to every situation life sends our way?

How can we think in ways that benefit others and ourselves?

How can we eliminate negativity?

How can we help our students learn from mistakes?

How can we celebrate confusion?

How can we help our children know how they have intelligence?

How can we make things better after we have said or done something we wish we hadn't said or done?
