From the Principal's Desk
Dear School Families,
I wanted to take a moment to inform you we have found a long-term substitute who will be taking on Ms. Kaczmarek's position of work with individual and groups of students giving students the added support and enrichment that is needed, along with teaching the 6th grade strategies class. Mrs. Woods will be subbing for the rest of the school year. Last year, Mrs. Woods taught 6th grade Language Arts, strategies and religion classes here at St. Michael. In fact, a number of years ago she teamed up with other strategies teachers and administration to review and make positive changes to our strategies program. Mrs. Woods' passion is working with students who struggle with organization and special education students. We are excited to have her back at St. Michael teaching.
Blessings,
Laurie Maxwell
Principal

Welcome back, Mrs. Woods!
I cannot express how excited I am to be back at St. Mike's working with such amazing kids, families, and staff, while I fill in as a long-term sub for Ms. Kaczmarek for the remainder of the school year.
I received the most amazing outpouring of love from the kids and staff when I came to school to sub
on Wednesday
, and I felt like I was "home"
again. I am also excited to have the opportunity in this position to work with students from kindergarten to eighth grade and to have the opportunity to help and provide support to many kids.
My ten years of teaching experience include four years at Our Lady of Grace Catholic School in Edina and six years at St. Mike's. I have a Minnesota teaching license in Elementary Education and Middle School English-Language Arts. I also have a Master of Arts in Special Education degree and recently completed a K-12 Special Education licensure program.
I have spent much time in prayer, and I know that God has opened this door for me, and I am so honored to walk through it and to serve Him.
See you in the halls,
Mrs. Woods

Enrollment for '17-'18 school year begins on February 1st.
Families, please note that you will soon be asked to complete the steps necessary for updating information and enrolling your child(ren) for the 2017-2018 school year. Watch for detailed instructions to come your way.
For families with 3-5 year old children, attending our Faithful Beginnings preschool, this will also be your opportunity to select preferences for days of the week as well as half-day/full-day options. We look forward to the many familiar faces and new students that will fill our classrooms next year!

Exciting Offer for Kindergarten and New Families
We shared in a previous update that we are experiencing a high level of interest in our Kindergarten program. We are also receiving many inquiries from families with older students looking for a new school environment. In order to be proactive in our staffing and budgeting for next school year, we have opened 2017-2018 pre-registration for Kindergarten and new families. Submitting a registration form and fee before January 31 will secure future Blues a spot in our school and lock in 2016-2017 tuition rates.
Please help us spread the word to families you know that are considering St. Michael for their children.

Because of her Parent Communication and Engagement, Mrs. Morgan is in the Top 150 Teachers across the US.
Kirsten sent 147 updates in the past month (this includes the holiday break as well) and ranked among the top 150 teachers nationally for her engagement of parents reviewing, 'loving', hitting "got it" and reviews by parents.
As a result of this accomplishment, we have received Kirsten's parent feedback and it is outstanding as well. In the attachment, you will find her parents' responsiveness to her daily talents, work ethic, and dedication to every single child winning.
