Dear Friends and Families,
Tomorrow is a very special day for us at St. Michael School.  It is the Feast Day of the Archangels better known around school as the Feast Day of St. Michael the Archangel.  Friday's school Mass will be in celebration of our Patron Saint, St. Michael.  Please join us as Mrs. Hinker's class leads us in this special celebration.   We know that St. Michael resides in heaven with God along with all of the other Angels and saints.  St. Michael is mentioned in three books of the bible by name:  Daniel, Jude and Revelations.  It states that he combats Satan and defends us in the battle.   Each time we pray the St. Michael prayer we are invoking him to protect us.  What a special gift we have in that St. Michael the Archangel who leads the heavenly cohorts in battle against evil is our patron saint.
It is often noted children love to play with guns, swords and other instruments of war.  At school we teach them to use the most powerful weapon of all, prayer.  Our students know that St. Michael holds them dear to his heart because they attend St. Michael's School.   Daily we join the fight of good versus evil.  We begin each day with our all school prayer time and we pause before each new subject to pray.  As your children wake in the morning and then return to you after school, are you joining together in the fight using the greatest weapon of all, PRAYER?

Mrs. Maxwell

Robotics Program at St. Michael!
RobotROBOTICS:
We want to extend a warm welcome to Mrs. Morgan in her new role at St. Michael! In addition to teaching grades 6 and 7 Language Arts and helping with the media center each morning during first period, she has also accepted the role of the robotics communication liaison. She will be meeting with each team in the elementary through grade 8 to introduce herself to the mentors and robotics team members and explain her role and how she will be assisting them throughout the year. She will be writing announcements for News Notes, the Blues News Network, and our St. Michael Facebook page, summarizing information that robotics mentors and team members pass along to her. She will keep the St. Michael family and community members up to date with competition results, share progress in the Lego Leagues and robots, and update the robotics website throughout the year. She will also be working closely with Mrs. Casey to order necessary parts for robotics teams. Be watching for her updates, and if you have news, competition results, and or pictures of your robotics teams that you would like to share, please contact her at [email protected].

bandA Note from Sean Prichard on kicking off Band this year

Greetings, parents!

I really enjoyed being able to see your kids last week during instrument demonstrations, and I'm excited to start working with them this week!

We're still finalizing our schedule, and are hoping to have instruments for our new musicians delivered to the school on Friday, if you are working with Eckroth music. If you have any questions about that process, don't hesitate to ask!

For the students returning to band at St. Michael's, please bring your instrument and lesson book to school, because you will be starting your lesson either tomorrow afternoon, or Friday afternoon, depending on your instrument.

This first week will be getting everyone up to speed in their lessons, and next week we will add the rehearsal after school.

Best regards,
Sean Prichard
