From the Principal's Desk

Congratulations!  On Monday, May 15, 2017, the MNSAA Board of Directors renewed the seven-year accreditation eligibility status for the K-8 academic program of St. Michael Catholic School of Prior Lake.  The board wishes to recognize your school community for your efforts in completing the renewal process.  We especially want to affirm your school's commitment to meeting the unique needs of learners, efforts to support the emotional and social growth of students, standards-based grading, and the collaborative relationship between the parish and the school.  Accreditation is a voluntary method of quality assurance with a goal to evaluate, validate, and improve each school's quality.
MNSAA is a federally- and state- sanctioned non-profit association for accrediting nonpublic schools in the State of Minnesota.  The Association's mission is to be a catalyst for enhancing the quality of nonpublic education in Minnesota through a comprehensive process of accreditation .  Our agency helps schools provide quality nonpublic education for the children of Minnesota for its member schools.  MNSAA is governed by a member-elected Board of Directors that bases its accreditation on a school's evaluation through a self-study process.
Schools are accredited based on their compliance with a set of rigorous standards which identify essential personnel, instruction, facility, curriculum, governance, and marketing policies and practices that are considered necessary for an effective school.  The accreditation process includes the creation of a visionary and focused strategic plan and an on-site visit by a team of educators from member schools.  Accreditation with MNSAA relies heavily on how the individual school defines its mission and the way it seeks to accomplish that mission.
MNSAA is pleased to have St. Michael Catholic School join some of the more than 170 accredited schools that make up the Association .  MNSAA salutes St. Michael School's commitment to providing outstanding education to the children of this community.  MNSAA will continue to provide guidance to St. Michael Catholic School through an annual review of its strategic plan.

  healthFrom the Health Aide

Dear Parent/Guardian:

Any medications brought to the health office this year for your student will need to be picked up by the end of the school day on June 7th.  Non-emergency medications (i.e. Tylenol, etc.) may be picked up earlier than June 8th.
NOTE:  Controlled medications cannot be sent home with students.

Should your child require medication for next fall (including Tylenol, Ibuprofen, dietary supplements, non-prescription medications, lotions, etc.), please have your licensed prescriber fill out the front portion of the medication authorization form at your convenience this summer.   A parent/guardian must sign the back of the medication authorization form.  This form can be found on the Prior Lake School website under health services.
Note:  Controlled substances must be brought in by parent/guardian versus by student.

If your student had medication and/or emergency action plans in the health office this year, new forms for next year will be sent home when old medication is picked up.

Have a healthy, enjoyable summer.
