Weekly Update

I'm back ! It feels good to be back in the saddle!  I'm easing back into work, as I've myriad tasks to complete at home so my husband has a better quality of life, but Rome wasn't built in a day so I'm still not back full time, every day, but also not totally disengaged. The only reason I could take that time I needed for my husband is my work family, who picked up all my duties and kept the Center running without even a hiccup. So let me say a big thank you to Kris, Cid, Wanja, Donmarie, Dave, Priya & Dianne for being the amazing people you are. Your passion for the work we do shows each and every day.

I also want to thank those who reached out to me,  I have been touched by the many expressions of support and caring over the past two months, being the active and social creature I am, I had some dark days being confined.   thankyou_paper_hdr.jpg

Summer is in full swing, I feel as if I've missed so much of it !  I'll admit it was a bitter pill to swallow to miss the Mother's Retreat and the week at Camp Havvago. I'm hoping to be at Breezy Picnic Grounds this weekend with Ed, and next week I will be at Camp Starfish with Cid with our Beachcombers, and at the Noche Mexicana Fundraiser at Margaritas on July 27th. Would love to see you there!

One event that I can't attend, not being a dad  is the Dad's Night Out at the Worcester Bravehearts this Friday  July 21, 2017. - DADS there is room for more, come and enjoy a ball game, food and good company! Mom's you know how much you enjoy the Mother's Retreat.  Encourage your partner to get out and connect with other Dads!! Summer means baseball and we've another night that we can ALL attend in August with the Bravehearts  - Scroll down for the details ! If the date doesn't work for you, remember we have tickets for all home games that you can get for your family.

We're still looking for golfers for August 18th. The committee has done an amazing job putting together the annual tournament. Not only do I have a great staff but we're lucky to have wonderful volunteers. Do you golf, or does your child have a grandparent who golfs who'd like to spend a day on the links supporting the organization that supports their grandchild? Help us spread the word about a great day of golf that supports your center.

Also we are seeking nominations for Guiding Stars to honor in October at our Twentieth Year Gala Celebration.  Certainly a few of you could think of a deserving individual?  I recently was notified that I will be honored as a CHAI Champion at Jewish Family & Children Services biennial celebration this fall. I can't tell you how gratifying it is to be nominated and recognized. Sure people get paid for what they do, and most who work in the field of disabilities feel gratified every  day to be be able to make a difference in the lives of those we serve.  We all say "Thanks"  at the end of a school year with small gifts for the whole team or when a special person moves on in their career and leaves our child's life. But it is truly special to be recognized at an event. YOU have the power to make that a reality for a special person in your child's life. So put it on your to do list, make it a priority, nominations need to be in by August 25th so we will have time to notify honorees and prepare for the big night.

Looking forward to seeing you soon.
