The Pea rl Martini Bar & Lounge ~101 W. Mississippi Dr.

This month's Third Thursday event is at The Pearl Martini Bar & Lounge, Thursday, September 17 from 5:30-7:30 pm. Tantra Thai Bistro will be catering the event. The featured supporters for this month are Geneva, University of Iowa and Stanley Consultants. We will be doing a fundraiser for Significant Souls.

Significant Souls, a branch of Kids First through the United Way, was developed earlier in 2015 by Toby McCarter.  (This was Toby's Leadership Muscatine "project"!)  His goal was to find a way to provide a new pair of tennis shoes to students that cannot afford them. Toby determined that the best place to start searching for those in need was a school because teachers and school nurses are the "boots on the ground" in knowing a child's situation.

Come enjoy the great food and drinks and support at great program!

Dr. Walsh sees all patients from infants to adults and offers complete eye care. Prior to graduating, Dr. Walsh spent time seeing patients at the Lexington Kentucky VA Medical Center - Leestown Division, the UNMC Stanley M. Truhlsen Eye Institute, The Eye Institute of Utah, and the Indianapolis Eye Care Center.

Patrick is a native Iowan, having grown up in the small southwestern town of Creston, Iowa. He completed his undergraduate work at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln with a degree in Nutrition, Exercise and Health Sciences. Yes, he is a Nebraska Football fan. Go Big Red!

Recently a married man, Patrick and his wife Sarah are excited to start their lives together and, along with their cat Trey, enjoy calling Muscatine home. Patrick sees YPN as an excellent way to meet others, as well as seeing and learning more about the community and what it has to offer.

Fall Day of Caring will be September 30th, 2015

The Day of Caring is a community-wide day of hands-on volunteering in which United Way connects volunteers from businesses, corporations, faith-based groups, and donors with non-profit organizations in our community to work on various projects that would not otherwise be completed.

Day of Caring demonstrates that volunteerism is vital to the well-being of our community. It provides our citizens with a first-hand look at the services offered by community agencies and it provides an excellent opportunity for teams from a diverse population to impact the well-being of our community.

As a result of the tremendous growth in participation the Day of Caring event has seen in the past six years, the United Way is hosting two separate Day of Caring events.  For more information please contact Nichole Sorgenfrey at 563.263.5963 or e-mail nichole.
