September 17, 2017 WEEKLY PARENT UPDATE
Message from the Principal:

It was a great first full week of school and teaching and learning is in full gear. The Catholic legacy of Monsignor Clarke is evident in the kindness and respectful behaviors I see as I walk through classrooms. The PTO ice-cream social was a great hit with the students. And the week culminated in our 2nd Annual "A Tasteful Evening" fundraiser last night on the grounds of our school. More than 175 supporters had a wonderful time and we are so appreciative of this support for our school. For more information, click "News From the Advancement Office" below.

We have a short week this week (note that we may run a School's Out camp but we need to hear from you by Monday!) but it will be a great one!

God bless,
Dr. Lisi

Back to School Night/Open House

Our Back-to-School Parent Night is this Wednesday. Because we have a cross-country meet earlier that day, we will follow this schedule which will allow parents to attend The Prout parent evening at 7:30 pm.

6 pm - 6:25 pm: Visit teacher classrooms.
6:30 - 6:45 pm: Principal welcome in the gymnasium
6:50 - 7:15 pm: Visit teacher classrooms.
Please note that the middle school has developed a schedule which allows for parents to visit elementary classes and middle level classes. This will be sent to middle school parents.

Want to Play in the Band? Strings?
Students met with representatives from Paul Effman which will provide instruction in a number of band instruments and strings (violin, cello, viola). Forms went home last week for students to sign up for lessons which will take place during the school day. If interested, please return the form in the next couple of days.

Parking and Drop Off
A reminder that if you are dropping off your student, you should drive around to the drop-off location (gym, middle school, back of building). If you need to park in the front, please park in a space on the quick left. We appreciate you not driving in the front where the buses drop off (the bus lane and fire lane).

Dismissal Pick-up Times
Reminder that your child is dismissed from school at 2:40 pm. If you are picking up your student, we ask that you try to be on time. Teachers on duty will, as a courtesy, stay until 2:50 pm, but then your child will be escorted to the Extended Care room and a charge may be applied. Teachers are involved in after-school help and professional work; parents picking on time will allow teachers to attend to their professional work. Thank you.

Flu Shot Clinic - Registration Information
Has your family gotten the flu shot? A reminder that there will be a flu clinic held at our school on Monday, October 2 from 3 pm to 6 pm. All adults and children, age 3 and older, are welcome to attend the clinic and get vaccinated at no out-of-pocket cost.
Reminder: the flu is a serious, sometimes deadly disease. It is also highly contagious. Catching the flu means missing days of work and school, and possibly being hospitalized. Don’t take the risk – protect yourself and
your family by getting the flu shot.
