Dear friends,

Over the last couple of weekends, we've been especially busy knocking on doors and walking the district to get to know the folks in our community.  It's important to me that I understand the neighborhoods and concerns of everyone that live and work in the 66th district.  Meeting everybody and hearing their concerns is crucial to being your representative in Sacramento.  And when elected, I will continue to listen and be your voice for the 66th district.

Over the weekend many people celebrated Cinco de Mayo to celebrate Mexican heritage and pride, and Kodomo no Hi, or Children's Day, a Japanese holiday to celebrate the happiness of children.  These celebrations, which both happen to be on May 5, reminds me of the cultural richness and diversity that comprise the 66th district.

I grew up on U.S. military bases around the world and was very fortuitous to live in diverse communities and experience the local customs and traditions of those areas. I bring these experiences and a cultural awareness to my candidacy for Assembly to ensure everyone's interests in the district are heard and that all have a voice in Sacramento.

Having an open mind comes from growing up in a family who valued public service.  My father worked for the U.S. Army for over 40 years, and my mother was a schoolteacher.  I attended UC Berkeley, where I gained my passion to make a difference.  I then went to UCLA to become a lawyer, not to make a lot of money, but to help people and fight for justice.

That's why I want to be your Assemblymember and need to win this race.  In order to do so, I need your help!

Absentee ballots are being mailed this week!  I need your help to get my message out to those absentee voters in the 66th district and ensure a victory on June 5th.  We are phone banking Monday - Thursday nights from 5 - 8:30 p.m. at the campaign headquarters and we need volunteers to help make calls.
