It's once again HUYAWA Sunday at Faith!

Once again, we welcome our former interim Pastor Mark and Elaine Reitan to worship, this Sunday, April 22, as well as at the Adult Forum time between worship in the Fellowship Hall.

Pastor Mark and Elaine will bring greetings and an update from the HUYAWA project in Tanzania, which Faith has supported for the past six years.

Pastor Reitan will be preaching at both 8.30 and 11 am worship.

As always, envelopes will be available if you wish to donate to HUYAWA.  Make your check payable to Faith Lutheran Church.
Faith's Annual Diaper Drive is here!

Social ministry is holding our annual Diaper Drive for Eastside Baby Corner from April 8-30 this year. Eastside Baby Corner in Issaquah is a non-profit organization" helping children with their basic needs today so they can reach their full potential tomorrow." Founded in 1990 by Karen Ridlon, a nurse practioner, who saw the needs of children ages infant to age 12. With their support, 149 programs in schools, human service agencies and food banks, can help families become stable, safe, housed, fed and employed. EBC distributes nearly 80,000 items for kids in King, S. Snohomish, Kitsap and west Pierce counties. The community donates children's clothing and goods and EBC purchases vital supplies for children, such as formula, car seats, pack-n-play beds and diapers that are needed. In 2017, EBC provided nearly a million diaper changes.

What is diaper need? It is the lack of a sufficient supply of diapers to keep a baby clean, dry and healthy. Infants require up to 12 diapers each day, at a cost of $80-100 per month per baby.

1 in 3 families struggle with diaper need. 5.2 million infants and toddlers live in poor and low income families. Government programs like food stamps and WIC do not recognize diapers as a basic need and do not provide funding for diapers.
Most childcare centers require parents to provide disposable diapers. Without diapers, babies can not participate in early childhood ed programs. Without child care, parents can't go to work or school.

Please help us with our drive. If you don't want to buy diapers, there is a list of other needed items to choose from. Thank you. Cheryl Grinna (425)881-1435 if questions.

It's Spring Stewardship Time!

You should be receiving the annual Faith Lutheran Church stewardship mailing soon.  Please prayerfully consider your financial commitment to the ministry of Jesus Christ through Faith Lutheran.  Commitment Sunday will be May 6.

Faith Angels softball has a bye this week.  The next game is Wednesday, May 2 at 8:30 pm at Grass Lawn Park field 2.
A Follow Up to Last Sunday's Information Meeting

Dear Fellow Faith Members:
Thank you to all who attended and participated in our Faith Forum this past Sunday.
To briefly review for the benefit of those not able to attend, we discussed some of the current church events in What's Happening at Faith. W e next reported on David's resignation and plans going forward to find new staff to lead our instrumental music (piano and organ), vocal and hand bell choirs. We applauded the interim volunteering by Karla, Craig and Kathy in covering these positions so well.
Next we focused on going to a single worship service beginning May 27th due to both small attendance at the current 11:00 am worship service, and the loss of band members. The single service is planned for 9:30 am each Sunday, and the Adult Education and Sunday School hour schedule is yet to be determined.
The Land Sale is now somewhat in jeopardy due to current rules and codes by the City of Redmond. While that is still being pursued, other options may be in the works in the future.
Lastly, we presented the re-initiation of a Forward With Faith Committee, picking up where the 2005 exercise left off. We'll be forming this committee to determine the goals and missions of Faith in the short and long term. We're looking for a diverse group inspired and enthusiastic volunteers to be on our committee to enhance and develop our missions for our church and community.
If you would like more information, please see the Faith News Bulletin posted April 14 to view the minutes of the Forum. If you're interested in volunteering for this committee, or any other church activity, please contact John Oftebro, Kathy Schoof, Pastor Bob or leave word at the office.
Thank you for what you already do at and for Faith.
