Providing a world-class, community-funded education.
A Note from Superintendent Burmeister

I hope your family enjoyed a relaxing and rejuvenating summer. It's hard to believe that next Thursday, August 24, we will open our doors to another wonderful school year! I am especially excited to greet students and parents this year as Superintendent. We are one year in to our six year  Strategic Plan; with your help, the future for MPCSD promises meaningful innovation, engaged students, purposeful learning, and unique options for a diversity of learners. Please reach out to me any time, and look for my monthly newsletter, Sup's On blog, and Farmers Market tent to learn more and get involved. I look forward to meeting you in person and partnering with you to imagine what a world-class, community-funded school district can be.

Transportation

The road to school begins at your front door. However your child walks, rides, buses, or carpools to school, we want safety to be everyone's top priority. Fewer cars make our campuses feel welcoming, safe, and easier to approach on foot. Click the link below for more information on the various ways to get to our campuses. And remember that apprehension and a few tears are normal on the first days of school. Reassure your child that you are proud of them and can't wait to hear about their day. Send them off with confidence and they will grow confidence, too. Our amazing teachers are pros at calming the new school year jitters.

Hot Lunch

We are once again happy to welcome back The LunchMaster as our hot lunch vendor. There are exciting new meals and ever changing menus on the way, so stay tuned. Some added highlights are the Bistro boxes and BBQ'd items that will be joining the menu this year. The LunchMaster works hard to provide organic fruits, vegetables, and white milk along with the best selection of meats available from Harris Ranch! All meals are designed and monitored by a registered dietician. With  questions regarding the district hot lunch program please contact Debi Rice at the District Office. Use the link below for all the info you need for registering for LunchMaster.

Speaker Series

Our Parent Education Speaker Series is back with a stellar line-up for the new school year. Events include inspiring and educational talks by Sheryl Sandberg, author of Option B and founder of OptionB.org, Michael Gurian, renowned educator, family counselor, and New York Times bestselling author, and other experts on issues from anxiety and depression to parenting our "digital natives." There will also be opportunities to hear from and interact with city, district, and school administrators as we continue envisioning the future of our district together. Follow the link below for complete event descriptions and more information. All events are free to the public and are held at Hillview Middle School PAC.

Support Our Schools

Soon you will hear from the parent-led organizations, The Menlo Park-Atherton Education Foundation (MPAEF) and your school's Parent Teacher Organization (PTO), that raise funds to support our incredible schools. We are a community funded district because nearly 90% of our operating budget comes from local sources, and we are world class because the community chooses to consistently support the quality education we expect. When you receive the Annual Campaign materials from these two crucial organizations, please consider making a meaningful donation to support your child's education.
