A Note From Your New President
Jeff  Klop, Allied ASID

Since I was a child I would count down the last days of summer until my fondest season of autumn began. This time of year was always a fresh start for me in growing another year older as my birthday sometimes falls on the first day of autumn. This is also the time of year when excitement would stir for a new school year, new outfits, and the possibility to make new friends. Not to mention the changing of the weather with crisp autumn air and the vibrant changes in color of the leaves on the trees.

This time of year has added meaning and memories to me as this is the time of year that the Michigan Chapter of ASID Board of Directors step into their new board positions. We have come together for the first time as the 2015-2016 Board of Directors as you would as a kid after summer vacation. We are introducing ourselves and getting to really know our new friends. We are radiating ideas and thoughts that we have been bottling up for this moment where we can finally come together and share. With the new season comes the new me, the new you and the new year for ASID.

Our 2015 Annual Meeting was held at the Michigan Design Center where a lunch and CEU was provided and hosted by our sponsor, Ann Sacks. The Annual Meeting was followed by a Gala and Black Tie Affair at the historic Whitney in Detroit with the great help of our Garden Sponsor, Virginia Tile and our two Bar Sponsors Ferguson & FORTIS. Our event was also a great success with the contribution from our Annual Sponsors Blakely Products & Norwalk Furniture. The day was filled with excitement as we celebrated the 40th year of ASID. It was great to see new faces as well as recognize the 40 year members that have stayed as a member with ASID through their career. I am excited and honored to take on this first year of the next 40 as the Michigan Chapter of ASID President.

Thank you all,

Jeffrey M. Kolp

Getting To Know You:
Your 2015-2016 Michigan Board
Cynthia Hahn | President-Elect
It's been a busy two years for the design industry. As we've moved further out of the recession, exp eriencing economic growth, our members have gained a strong up-tick in business and an increase in professional opportunities. At ASID we are proud to be a part of those opportunities in offering professional development, networking and career enhancement.

Over the past two years we've collaborated with our IP members to host multiple CEU's in order to meet national's requirement of 10 CEU hours every 2 years (the current reporting period ends December 31st); we've increased connection with, & promotion of, professional development offered thru national --  including their web based library of CEU's, ASID Icon and their online knowledge center that offers an abundance of research & business documents & resources -- and we've begun ramping up focus on providing more networking opportunities with the social aspect we all enjoy, including our monthly industry nights.

As we move in to 2016, and welcome Michael McColgan as our Professional Development Director, we look forward to further building off of these successes to increase CEU events, to strengthen professional relationships among our members, to ensure the future of our industry thru the mentorship of emerging professionals, and to continue building the value & recognition of ASID with our members, and the public at large, as a leading industry resource for all things design.

I am honored and excited to be taking on the role of President Elect, following in the footsteps of so many great leaders before me. As a chapter, we deeply appreciate and look forward to your continued support and ever-increasing involvement as members, professionals and fellow leaders of our industry.

Eileen Minna | Financial Director
My name is Eileen Minna, I'll be serving a two year term as the Financial Director on the 2016/2017 ASID Board of Director's Michigan Chapter. I've served in the past as the Director at Large and the Membership Director. I'm honored to be on the board once again and look forward to a prosperous term!

I graduated from Wayne State University in 2000, and have worked in the Interior Design industry in both Commercial and Retail Design.

My responsibilities will include preparing an annual budget by working with the
President & the President-Elect on the strategic planning committee. Then I will be making sure all ASID activities and events are within our budget.

I would encourage any of our members to reach out to me with any concerns or ideas you might have that would help our membership to grow and continue to be financially sound.
