A Letter from Summit PTA President, Erin Horsley
Welcome back to school! I hope that you had a great extended summer… I know we did but I am also really excited to get back into a good routine with the best teachers and staff around and in a newly renovated building!
We were excited to kick off the school year with the fabulous Back to School Bash on the 27th. Thank you to the families involved in planning such a great event: Alison and Josh Cumby, Megan and Tim Albers, Becky and Scott Erickson, Lori and Mark Fyffe, Abbe and Jim Lackmeyer, and Holli and Bruce Senters. We hope you will join our school in the many fun event throughout the year and consider volunteering. We are very excited this year to add a 4-6th grade musical and that is just the beginning of the fun enrichment planned for the students.
I hope that you can join us at PTA meetings, the 2nd Tuesday of the month in the Media Center with free babysitting in the cafeteria. This is a time when we touch base on upcoming events, hear from our school principals and teachers, and have opportunities to learn about district wide initiatives and other topics that are important to you. We would love to have you join us for a meeting and if you can’t make it you can find our meeting notes on our website (insert website). PTA membership is open and we want you to join! You don’t have to attend meetings to be a part of the PTA, but joining shows how strong our commitment is to our school and students, plus, you will get a coveted directory with your membership. Please consider joining!
With school starting later than normal, you are going to hear about Summit’s only school fundraiser later this week – the Summit Strong Walk A Thon! This annual event is the only fundraiser students participate in together and we have such a generous community who always shows up to support our students. Money earned from the walk a thon goes right back into our school to support enrichment, fun activities and classroom support that make our school the wonderful community it is. Be on the lookout for more info this week!
Thank you for allowing me to serve the school, faculty, students and families. If you ever have any questions, comments or ideas about what we can do to support our school, please don’t hesitate to contact me. I’m looking forward to another great year!
Sincerely,
Erin Horsley
