Welcome, Jessica Dreyer!
Please welcome Jessica Dreyer, intern with the Tulsa Police Department Child Crisis Unit. Jessica is currently enrolled at the University of Applied Sciences in Wuerzburg and is studying for her Bachelor's degree in business translation. A 20-week long internship abroad is part of these studies, and she has chosen to work with TPD as part of that. She is living with family in Broken Arrow while she is here. Jessica was born in Fort Riley, Kansas, but her parents moved to Germany when she was about four years old. She grew up in a tiny town called Oberwildflecken in the middle of nowhere in Germany. "When it comes to my hobbies, I really have a passion for animals," said Jessica. "I love almost anything that has to do with animals!" In Germany, she has a pet rat and once she completes her studies she would like to adopt a French bulldog. When asked why she is looking forward to working at the Center, she said, "Because even if it is a hard job (emotionally), I know it is the right thing to do because I can help in solving crimes for those who are the most vulnerable and fragile and in most cases can't defend themselves. It just makes me happy to know that I can be a part of something bigger and know what can be achieved with my help."When it comes to working with her co-workers, she wants them to know, "Since I was born, I have had severe hearing problems; so if anybody is trying to talk to me and I don't react, I'm not ignoring you, I probably just don't have my hearing aids in and can't hear you! :o)"

"...With a Little Help from Our Friends."
We are so grateful for our friends at Daybreak Family Services for their continued support and annual donations of stuffed animals! We received 63 adorable stuffed animals that they collected at their annual holiday party! Thank YOU, Daybreak staff and volunteers!
Thank You to our friends at COX Communications! What an honor to attend the Cox Charities Champions luncheon on Friday, Dec. 12. Brandi Moore, CAN Community Relations Director, and Aubrey Cain, CAN Grant Coordinator, attended on behalf of CAN and accepted a donation from the generous employees at Cox Communications! The donation will fund our forensic interviewing program.
On Wednesday, Dec. 10, Jamie Kucinski with MPact Events dropped by CAN to donate items collected at one of his recent events called "Not So Silent Night." Items that were collected and donated include: blankets, books, journals, stuffed animals, headbands, socks, hats, jackets and pajamas. Thank You, Jamie, for thinking of CAN!
On Thursday, Dec. 11, Amy Howard, CAN Child Specialist, attended the Pan American Round Table lunch to accept donated items that were collected for the children that are seen at the Center. Thank you to the members of the Pan American Round Table!
We greatly appreciate all of the thoughtful donations that we receive at this time of year and throughout the year! If you would like to make a donation to CAN before year's end, please bring donations to the Children's Advocacy Center (2829 S. Sheridan) or click here to make a donation online.
