Sunday, September 19, 2010, Lower East Side and combines the
history of the multi-ethnic Lower East Side with diverse tastes of

and Chinatown as you walk through New York's historic "ethnic
quarter". As you explore the history you will make a series of food
sampling stops from some of the significant and historic shops and

Blue
Leadership Program Over the course of seven weeks, the Blue
Leadership Program prepares students to serve in significant campus
and community leadership roles, by providing in-depth leadership
training. Interactive workshops are presented by Student Affairs
administrators and/or guest speakers. Each two-hour workshop equips
students with leadership knowledge and tools to succeed as leaders
at Hofstra University and beyond. The leadership model for the
SERVICEday Series is based on a foundation of theories and
processes that cover 12 areas of leadership, including personal
development, purpose and vision, collaboration, and service.
Participation in the SERVICEday Series (5 hours) is also a
requirement. Applications are available in 260 Student Center. If

Plunge (Service Learning Project) Saturday, September

students to explore various parts of the city to learn about
poverty, hunger and homelessness in New York City. Students will
also be empowered to take action and create service project to give
back to their community. This project is FREE and includes

23-26, 2010 Please join us on campus for our annual Family
Weekend, which this year will be an extra special event since it
coincides with Hofstra's 75th Anniversary Celebration and Alumni
Weekend, renamed this year the Diamond Weekend. We are planning for
great events, including birthday cake cutting ceremony (cake made
by Charm City Cakes, contestant on the Food Network's Ace of
Cakes), tours of the arboretum and the museum, history-of-Hofstra
lectures, gallery exhibits, great meals with other Hofstra students

These two young artists, Cecilia Nygren and Gianfranco Foschino,
from Sweden and Chile respectively, approach making video in two
very different ways. While Nygren re-creates fictional narratives
based on cultural tropes, Foschino walks away from the operating
camera, allowing it to capture a period of time in his location of
choice and selecting preferred moments of action for his final
work.
