Make Your Vote Count on Nov. 6
Dear Friends,

California citizens from all walks of life are struggling with the lack of affordable housing in their communities. Safe, decent, affordable housing should be available to everyone. On November 6, vote Yes on Propositions 1 and 2 for the love of anyone you know needing affordable housing. Seniors are especially hit hard by this housing crisis, which I recently discussed on radio station KZSC. I invite you  to listen  to the interview where I explain some of the key issues surrounding this current housing shortage.

Ballot Measures Support Affordable Housing
Those who live and/or work in one of California’s urban areas will have likely noticed an uptick in the number of homeless individuals on our sidewalks and streets. Most of us are also familiar with the growing number of families, seniors and persons with disabilities struggling to make ends meet and to live in decent, affordable housing. Learn more about the upcoming state and local ballot measures so you can make an informed decision on Election Day, November 6. .

A Night to Remember -- 2018 Gala Celebrates CCH and Diversity
CCH’s Annual Gala held September 28 at the Oakland Rotunda was a beautiful night to remember as more than 150 guests shared tasty ethnic cuisine, camaraderie, lively Latin music and moving tributes about our CCH residents – all in the name of supporting affordable housing.

Blind Artist Inspires Others to Succeed Beyond Obstacles
Charles Blackwell, a resident of Westlake Christian Terrace in Oakland, CA, has been legally blind since the age of 20 when he slipped off steep terrain in Santa Cruz and suffered a major injury that left him partially blind. At the time, Charles had been pursuing a promising career as an art major in college. When the tragedy struck, he thought his dream to become a professional artist was over but by sheer determination, perseverance and God-given talent, he has realized his dream and now serves as a role model to many.

CCH remains deeply connected to our Disciples of Christ roots As such, Pension Fund of the Christian Church, a financial ministry providing retirement management, featured CCH in its e-newsletter, The Bridge.
