5 Tips for Developing the Characters in a Screenplay
Screenplays are a balancing act between dialogue, plot and characters, but a well rounded character can make your screenplay. Here are some tips to write strong characters.
  1.  Make the main character likable right from the start. The audience needs  to root for him and be interested in what is happening to him.
  2.  Make the characters realistic. Spend time developing who the characters  are, how they act, what they look like, why they do what they do.
  3.  Let the main character decide the plot: as a screenwriter you should know  everything about your character, and if you understand the character then  the plot will flow naturally.
  4.  Give the characters compelling dialogue. It will tell the audience what kind  of person the character is within the first few lines.
  5.  Give the characters a point of view, a motivation to act in a certain way.
