Each quarter, Retail Sq. Ft. releases the Retail Snapshot for Downtown New Haven. The First Quarter 2015 Retail Snapshot noted 12 new businesses opened during the period of January 1 through March 31, 2015. The downtown's retail composition resides in four main districts, Chapel Street, 9th Square, Audubon Arts & Retail District, and the Broadway District. There are 344 retail spaces in downtown, with a current vacancy rate of 9.9% or 34 retail spaces. Twelve new businesses opened and twelve closed between January and March 2015. 101 Art Threads Grand Opening and Reworx Pop-Up
Retail Sq. Ft. organized a ribbon cutting with Mayor Toni N. Harp to officially welcome101 Art Threads(118 Court St.) to the 9th Square. Visitors were greeted with food, music, art, and more.
On Friday, May 1, Mayor Toni N. Harp cut the ribbon to officially open the Happiness Lab at 756 Chapel St. Happiness Lab is the world's first co-working coffee shop dedicated to happiness. It proudly brews and serves its own brand of "Happy Life" coffee.
