Montana Academic Progression in Nursing
The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) Academic Progression in Nursing grant is a 2 year, $300,000 project to advance state strategies to create a highly educated, diverse nursing workforce. The grant was created in response to the Institute of Medicine's (IOM) report The Future of Nursing: Advancing Health, Leading Change. Click here to learn about Montana APIN. 
MT APIN Launches Nursing Education Webinars
In Spring 2013, MT CAHN & MT APIN produced three webinars specific to nursing education in Montana:
  • "Pathways to Nursing"
  • "RN to BSN Nursing Programs"
  • "Bachelor Degree Programs"

MT APIN Preceptorship Program

The purpose of the Preceptor Continuing Education Program is to prepare preceptors to effectively support the development of students in their academic progression. Nurses who participate in the asynchronous webinars will earn free contact hours through the Montana Nurses Association. Click here to learn more. 

Become a Mentor for RN to BSN Students in Montana
MT APIN introduces the planned Mentoring Program to connect RN students enrolled in a bachelor's
degree program with a mentor who is an experienced
registered nurse and has a bachelor's degree in nursing.  This voluntary program will begin at MT Tech of UM Fall 2013.  The purpose of this program is to provide encouragement and support to RNs who are pursuing a baccalaureate degree in nursing so that they will successfully finish their program of study and feel confident in their new skills.  Click here to learn more.

Upcoming Events
The Montana APIN team will be meeting with Dr. Joanne Spetz from the University of California- San Francisco and Ms. Katherine Locke from the National Program Office's consulting group on August 8 & 9, 2013.  Dr. Spetz will be assisting with Montana's nursing workforce data analytics and Ms. Locke will be evaluating the Montana APIN team's grant progress to date.
