Welcome to the first issue of The Match Illuminator!

The Match Illuminator, the NRMP's e-newsletter, was developed in response to requests for more bite-sized and manageable messaging from the NRMP.  It will arrive in your inbox the first of each month with timely information about The Match.

The Match Illuminator is the latest of several new NRMP communications products and technology offerings.  If you haven't already done so, check out our new public website, the redesigned Registration, Ranking, and Results system, and our iPhone APP- The MATCH PRISM, the Program Rating and Interview Scheduling Manager for applicants.

We want The Match Illuminator to be a valuable resource as you navigate the Main Residency Match and our Fellowship Matches.  Please send us your comments and suggestions by replying to this email.

The Match PRISM
Introducing NRMP's first Match APP

The Match PRISM, The Match Program Rating and Interview Scheduling Manager, is a free downloadable iPhone APP that allows applicants to track and organize programs during their interviews and develop program ratings that can be used to generate a rank order list in the R3 system.

Program Code of Conduct & Applicant Match Tips

Useful reminders for program directors and applicants

NRMP and the Council of Medical Specialty Societies' Organization of Program Director Associations partnered to create a Match Communication Code of Conduct to guide program directors in their interactions with applicants during the interview and matching processes.  Read the Code and learn more about policy at the NRMP's website.

The NRMP also partnered with the Council of Medical Specialty Societies Organization of Program Director Associations to create Match Tips for Applicants.  This document helps applicants better understand their rights and responsibilities in the Match in order to promote a more successful experience.

We hope you will read Match Tips for Applicants and share it with your applicants.

Applicant Match History

Determining applicant eligibility

The Applicant Match History (AMH) in the
R3 system provides information about applicants' prior or existing Match commitments and whether they have been involved in an NRMP waiver review or violation investigation.  The AMH is accessible throughout the year and should be consulted by program staff prior to offering an interview to determine whether an applicant is eligible for appointment.
