Helping Our Friends in Texas - A Message from Episcopal Relief & Development
Here are 6 ways to support the work of Episcopal Relief & Development and to support response post disaster.

1. Donate to the Hurricane Harvey Response Fund to support impacted dioceses as they meet the needs of their most vulnerable neighbors after this event:

2. Please don't send food, clothing or other items ! Donations such as these can actually become more of a burden on the local diocesan leaders than a benefit.

3. Sign-up on the Ready to Serv e page to register as a possible volunteer in the future. These are the lists Episcopal Relief & Development staff share with dioceses when they are ready to recruit external volunteers.

4. Read Rob's Blog on best response practices:

5. Pray!  for all those affected by Hurricane Harvey and get the latest program updates on Facebook and Twitter @EpiscopalRelief and  episcopalrelief.org

If you have any questions, concerns, or just want to chat, please don't hesitate to reach out to me and I will be happy to help.
Peace and Blessings!

Please mark your calendars and come out to support Malinda in her move. Thanks so much to all of you for your unrelenting willingness to “be Christ's presence in the community.” See Christ Church Pastoral Associate Terry Syberg with questions.

Check out our new logo, lovingly created by parishioner Maureen Slamer! In the words of Father Robert, the logo is "Beautiful. Very tender. It’s hard to identify who is receiving which is precisely the point.”

Junior Choir Seeks New Members
September is the beginning of the school year and JUNIOR CHOIR @ Christ Church!

We extend an invitation to all children who are in the first grade through sixth grade to become a musical contributor to our worship service. Junior Choir rehearsals are held after church and a quick snack until 12:30 every Sunday.  Our first rehearsal will be held on Sunday, September 10th; September 17th will be the first time we will sing for the service.

Benefits of being a member of the JUNIOR CHOIR @ Christ Church: Learn to sing, learn about our liturgy, learn how to read music, learn more about Jesus and stories in the Bible, meet new friends, have fun and become part of an awesome group of kids who make a difference in the worship at Christ Church!

What should you do to join? Show up to the first rehearsal on September 10th. After you have some goodies at coffee hour, just come downstairs to the Sunday School room. You can also email Mrs. Debbie Mello at: [email protected] to sign-up.

Hope to see you on September 10th!

Bishop Search Update
The Search/Nominating Committee will hold Listening Meetings in September. At these meetings, members of the Search/Nominating Committee will lead small group discussions. These Events will be opportunities for all members of the diocese to meet for respectful, responsible dialogue and for an interchange of thoughts and ideas in response to the qualitative questions included in this Search/Nominating Survey. The information gathered from the Survey and the Listening Meetings will provide a forum for the laity, the clergy and the staff to be included in the discernment process and will help the Search/Nominating Committee to develop an accurate profile of our diocese.

We have several meetings scheduled on a variety of days and in various locations. We hope you can attend one. Please note that some meetings are for targeted audiences (Lay only, Clergy only or diocesan staff only). Your participation in one of the listening meetings will help us continue to see what God is up to in the Diocese of Newark. Mark your calendar for the date and location that works best for you.

For more information, visit the Diocesan website.
New Ministry Opportunity
Volunteers are needed to shop for and prepare dinner once a month for the Pathways to Prosperity program.

Pathways to Prosperity is an exciting initiative to end poverty. It provides support and resources to families, called Path Leaders, who have made a serious commitment to change their lives by becoming self-reliant and resilient. Path Leaders complete comprehensive education resulting in the development of an action plan that maps out their road to success. Through education, mentoring, skill building and networking, Path Leaders make real and positive changes in their lives to achieve self-reliance and resiliency.

Pathways to Prosperity meets every Tuesday evening in Sparta. Dinner is provided to all participants and their children—usually 50-60 people. Christ Church volunteers will shop for and prepare dinner one Tuesday a month. Expenses are reimbursed up to $150. Our first Tuesday will be September 26 th .

Please contact Terry Syberg if you are interested in joining this team.
