Introducing our new Executive Director, Jamie Simon
Dear Friends,

On behalf of the Camp Tawonga Board of  Directors, I am thrilled to officially welcome Jamie Simon as our new executive director during her first week in the role. Jamie has served as Tawonga's associate executive director for the last year, working closely alongside Ken Kramarz and Camp Director Becca Meyer to ensure a smooth continuity of leadership. Last year, the board unanimously appointed Jamie as our next leader, with Ken's full support.

Jamie has been a Tawongan for over 25 years, starting out as as a camper in 1990, and then as a CIT and counselor. She has now worked with the agency for 16 years -- nine as camp director -- and is a beloved leader among the Tawonga community as well as the broader camping movement. Her expertise in emergency preparedness and response, gender inclusion and sexual health education has elevated Tawonga to be a true leader in the field. Prior to Tawonga, Jamie worked as the prevention education director at United Against Sexual Assault in Sonoma County.

Jamie follows the path of an incredible Tawonga leader. The impact Ken has made on this agency in his 30 years of service as executive director cannot be overstated. We are deeply grateful for his visionary leadership which has catapulted Tawonga to its strongest, most vibrant place in our 92-year history. This year alone, we served 2,500 summer camp and family camp participants, not to mention the thousands more reached through our local year-round programming. We are fortunate to continue benefiting from Ken's expertise as he will remain involved with the agency, supporting initiatives to restore our property on the Tuolumne River.

You will hear more from Jamie very soon.  She has a fantastic vision to share with you that ensures Tawonga remains a best in class Jewish summer camp experience, that we continue to invest in our site to preserve and restore its beauty for future generations and that we deepen our local programming so that the Tawonga experience can be accessible to everyone throughout the year.

I hope you will join me in welcoming Jamie as she steps into this exciting role. Feel free to reach her at [email protected]

Sincerely,

Stacy Mason
President, Camp Tawonga Board of Directors
