Hunger Games for Local High Schoolers

Mrs. Grant from Valley High School has partnered with Page One to provide books to her ninth grade students. She writes:

There is nothing like the excitement of a great book. Readers understand this, but to become a reader we need great books to read. As a teacher, I want to nurture the love of reading in my students. one of the most exciting recent Young Adult novels is "The Hunger Games," by Suzanne Collins. It is my desire to provide my 9th grade students the opportunity to enjoy this wonderful book. We would love to build a class set. Our friends at Page 1 Bookstore are kindly assisting us in our goal.

If you would like to help you may do so by:
  • Purchasing a new or used copy of "The Hunger Games" by Suzanne Collins to donate to the classroom
  • Donate any amount towards the purchase of books on a Page 1 Bookstore gift certificate
Thank you so much for caring about children and education.

The Ultimate Christmas Bucket List , by Barbe Awalt

This book features, "The Most Wonderful Time of the Year." There are the foods, the gifts, the traditions, the clothes, the songs, the movies, the decorations, the candy, and the symbols from all over the world.  So, on a snowy evening, get a mug of egg nog, some Christmas cookies, curl up in front of a fireplace, and read what makes Christmas so unforgettable.

Kicking the Bucket List: 100 Downsizing and Organizing Things to Do Before You Die, by Gail Rubin

Every single day, approximately 10,000 Baby Boomers will turn 65 from now until 2029 (They comprise 26% of the U.S. population). Yet less than 30% of U.S. adults have done any end-of-life planning, and that's a problem. This book will help adults clear their clutter, firm up their financials and leave the world a better place.

Lyle Got Stuck in a Tree, by Ross Van Dusen

A story of fear, bravery, and heroism. Lyle, the elephant, was afraid-afraid of mice, afraid of heights, and not too sure of the dark. So afraid he climbed a tree when he saw a mouse, got stuck, and was afraid to come down. If only Lyle were brave. He tried and tried until he finally put his toe on the firemen's ladder. But then, a harrowing ride, a fire, a woman in a burning house. He was needed! He would be brave! And that was when he summoned his courage and saved the day.
