Bill's Book Group For Guys
by Richard Ford

Join Bill's Book Group for Guys for a relaxed evening in the store discussing a specially-chosen book while enjoying a beer, glass of wine, or select single-malt whiskey.  $25 buys the book and a ticket to the event.
Betty's Lunchtime Book Group

Bookseller Recommendations

Phyllis Recommends:

The World Of Tomorrow by Brendan Matthews
This is a fast-paced novel set in New York City during a single week in June 1939.  An Irishman on the run under the alias of a Scottish Lord, a Czech photographer about to be deported home, an ex-gangster fulfilling one more obligation, and an African-American trumpeter trying to make it big in the Harlem jazz scene -- what do all of these characters have in common?  You will not be able to stop reading until the final page to see how it all turns out!

Betty Recommends:

Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng
Shaker Heights was planned as an orderly suburb of Cleveland, a model for community planners everywhere.  When Mia, an artist, and her daughter, Pearl, move to town, a series of unplanned, and combustible,  events unfold.  Drawn by Ng's sure narrative hand, there are wonderful 3D characters within this unconventional domestic drama and a pace which will keep you breathless. I loved Ng's Everything I Never Told You; this book is even better.

Sally Recommends:

Young Jane Young by Gabrielle Zevin
Aviva Grossman of Boca Raton, Florida had an affair with a married congressman while working as his intern, but she will not let this indiscretion ruin her life. She reinvents herself and shows the world that there can be a second act. Gabrielle Zevin ( The Storied Life Of A.J. Fikry) has written a warm and witty story through the eyes of the five women affected by this scandal, while addressing feminist and human issues.

William Recommends :
The Child Finder by Rene Denfeld
A woman who searches for abducted or lost children must confront her own memories of being abducted as a young child as she hunts for a stolen little girl.  Meanwhile, the missing girl constructs an elaborate fairy tale world around her to escape from years of terror and heartbreak with her captor.  The characters, especially the women, are strong and imaginative.  Readers who enjoyed Room will devour this literary thriller, which practically demands to be read in a single sitting.

"I fancy that at the beginning some fairy may have offered me the choice between great power and station and the privilege of living always among books, and that I, like the good child in the fairy tale,
 chose the latter."
