Small Grants due September 16
Any community organization or group of residents within or serving the Daniel McIntyre and St. Matthews neighbourhoods can apply for a grant of up to $5,000 for a community project. Projects must enhance the strength and cohesion of the community and emphasize community building/community connecting activities.

  • Mondays in August: Women's English Conversation Circles. Free for women   learning English who want to improve their speaking and listening skills. August 11, 18 and 25, 1-3pm at West Central Neighbourhood Immigration Settlement Services (640 Ellice Ave).
  • August: Wii Chiiwaakanak Learning Centre summer programs. See their website for more information about the centre.
  • July-August: Mosaic Family Programs for Summer 2014. Free programs designed to meet the needs of newcomer participants. Language, cultural support, and child care provided. 
  • *NEW* Friday, September 5: Chinese Moon Festival Celebration. Chinese pastries, entertainment, & prizes at Clifton Community Centre (1315 Strathcona St) at noon.   • Tuesdays Sept. 16 - Oct. 7: Computer Course for Employment Purposes.

  • August 25-28: Aboriginal and Newcomer Youth Career Weeks. The City of Winnipeg is recruiting Aboriginal and newcomer youth ages 15 -18 to participate in a Career Weeks program. Download the application form
  • August: Dance and Theatre classes. Theatre Dance Centre opened this June at at 618 Arlington St. They are offering two paid day camps and some free classes for children this summer. Scholarships may be available for the day camps. Email kathleen@theatredancectr.com or call 204-421-4127. 
  • August: 2014 Summer Reading Club at West End library. Kids register at 999 Sargent for a FREE reading kit with stickers, notebook and activity book. Prizes will be drawn and free programming ties in with reading theme. Contact JPiche@winnipeg.ca or 204-986-4678.
  • August: Change Ur Tune. Youth train with local artists, celebrities, and music teachers to learn instruments, voice training and all genres of music. Tuesdays (2-4pm) and Thursdays (4-6pm) until August 28 at Wii Chiiwaakanak (511 Ellice Ave). Contact 204-258-2951 or k.derbecker-RA@uwinnipeg.ca.
