February 9, 2018
 Dear Pastor/Friends,

Congratulation to our Wichita Falls Lakeview church on the arrival of their new pastor, Eric Deluna. Pastor Deluna has been serving on staff these past several years at Fort Worth First Church with Pastor CB Glidden. Prior to that he and his wife, Teresa, served at River Oaks Church with Pastor Hector Orozco. We are very excited for the Delunas and our Lakeview congregation!

Last week Susan and I had the privilege of serving with a number of highly qualified volunteers through the West Texas Disaster Relief team in Orange, Texas.  The previous weekend, district disaster response coordinator, Marcia Nikl, had been onsite in Orange with 15 additional volunteers. Altogether, there were 30 volunteers involved. I want to thank each of these who participated. Pictured here are team members with Pastor Maxine Williams of the Port Arthur Grace Church of the Nazarene. Her church became the interim home for many of her neighbors during the hurricane last September. Some are still living in the church. Several have given their hearts to Jesus.

I had the wonderful privilege of installing Pastor Calvary Callender and his wife Ceresa at Lantana Community Church of the Nazarene on January 14. I want to congratulate this wonderful couple and the Lantana congregation. I know that great and missional days are ahead.

I am pleased to report that we had a great round of licensure and ordination candidates interviews with the ministerial credential board recently. It appears that we will be nominating 9 candidates to our District Assembly for ordination this year. We also have 50 license ministers; 11 of these will be receiving 1st time license.

Incidentally, soon you will be receiving your district assembly packets from our district secretary, Pastor Earl Robertson. Thank you for making every effort to get all of your allocations taken care of. Let's finish very strong! You can get an up-to-date report on Funding the Mission by CLICKING HERE.

Finally, I want to praise God for a fantastic and anointed Shepherds' Sabbath with SNU President, Dr. Keith Newman. We had a record attendance again this year and every service was off the charts. Special thanks to our praise team, which was led by Chad Jones, and our event coordinator and office manager Ana Carrier.

For you and with you,

Pastor David Downs

Our district treasurer, Dan Davisson, has prepared the West Texas District 2017-2018 "Funding The Mission" report as of February 8, 2018. Pastors, please pay close attention to your church's contributions so far this year. Please make every effort to encourage your people to faithfully maintain their giving for others.

Dear Pastors and NMI Leaders,

Reporting: We will soon share information for official end-of-year NMI reporting online. Our District NMI Secretary is working to streamline and simplify the process! Please report so we can celebrate how EVERY West Texas church contributes to the global mission.

Deputation: Rob North, missionary to Africa, is in West Texas! Please check the schedule carefully. If you have any problems or need to make changes, contact Rob North directly at [email protected] and also copy Amy Spigelmyer (incoming Deputation Coordinator) at   [email protected] . We appreciate Amy's great work on this tour!

Remember - missionaries do NOT expect, or even necessarily prefer, a service in your sanctuary. They want a chance to get to know your people, share their stories, and say "thanks" for years of support. That can happen in a home, at a restaurant, in a skating rink, at the park... get creative! And please include your children and teens.

Alabaster: February is Alabaster offering month.
The Alabaster offering is an opportunity for people to see their money at work in a very tangible way.

Alabaster is a wonderful way to provide buildings & land on the mission field.  It's a perfect example of how God can take each of our little bits & multiply them. Find Alabaster resources by clicking the image on the left and choosing "Giving."

Blessings,

Cheryl Crouch, WT NMI President
