Dear Pastor/Friends,

I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for all those who helped make Family Camp such a great success. Our speakers, Chic Shaver and Jack Zimmerman, were outstanding, and the music, under Amanda Kleeb's leadership, was great. I am so grateful for how the Lord anointed our services. Our prayer has been that His Church would be encouraged and equipped. He has answered our prayers.

This past Sunday morning, I had the privilege of visiting our Dumas Church, where Pastors Steve and Rhonda Swansen are on sabbatical. However, my flight was delayed due to mechanical problems, and I actually finally showed up two hours late...just in  time for the potluck dinner! I want to thank Andy and Stephanie Diehlmann who stepped in and gave their missions testimony.  I heard it was a great service.

Sunday afternoon, I visited the Cactus Nazarene Ministry Center for a combined service with the African and Spanish-language congregations there. Here is a picture of Pastors Martha and Phil Patalano of the Hispanic congregation. While at the ministry center, it was very exciting to see the progress that has been made with the clinic construction. Dr. Stephanie Diehlmann is projecting that the clinic be will open for patients this coming fall. Please join the clinic leaders and staff in prayer as they continue the process of funding and certification.

This past Monday, 29 West Texas Nazarenes joined Becky and CB Glidden for the WT District Israeltour. This event has been sponsored and organized through our district SDMI. We are particularly grateful for Becky Glidden's efforts to organize this trip. It is especially meaningful on the heels of Rabbi Jack Zimmerman's Family Camp ministry.

I am pleased to announce our newest church planting effort in the Fort Worth area.
Rev. Alfredo Alvarez, who was ordained at our district assembly in April, and his wife  Candelaria (Candi) will be starting a new church in the Keller area this fall. They are pictured here with    Fort  Worth Northside Pastor Lynn Nichols.  Northside  will be serving as their host church. We  are excited about this new start and we join with our prayers and support for brother and sister Alvarez.

Pastors, I want to draw your attention to the Ministry Safe emphasis we are making on the district this summer. Please see the special announcement below regarding
this. You are receiving letters from Assistant Superintendent Earl Robertson as well. I want you to make sure you are aware of our request, that each one of our pastors, as well as all who work with children in each of our churches, completes the Ministry Safe training. Our goal is for full participation by September 1st. I can't thank you enough for making sure this happens in your congregation.

For you and with you,

Pastor David Downs

Ca ctus Nazarene Ministries  is leading the way in the Texas panhandle when it comes to citizenship and immigration services. Immigration Services is developing into an amazing ministry that is under-addressed in the panhandle, especially considering the large population of refugees and immigrants that have located here. CNM's Immigration Services Coordinator, Monica Loya, has worked diligently to become trained and certified in this area and in the past few weeks alone has assisted over 54 people in receiving their naturalization. Monica has been able to set up partnerships with local Dumas, TX attorney's to assist with clients who need legal assistance in the process. Pray for Monica as she ministers to people desperately seeking citizenship in America.

Health Center Update: We Have Walls!
Well, sort of. We have walls facing the interior of the center at least. Andy Diehlmann has been leading Work & Witness Teams in the construction of the Health Center, and as this newsletter is being written a local carpenter is sanding and texturing the walls to be painted. In coming weeks W&W Teams will continue finishing the interior exam rooms, office, nursery, lab, storage, and meeting room walls. It's exciting to see the progress every day and Dr. Stephanie Diehlmann is anxious to put all this hard work to use in caring for the people of Cactus. Each month we'll show you updated pictures and report progress on the Health Center.

Back To School Already?!
It is for  Cactus Nazarene Ministries !  Well, we're preparing for it anyways. CNM is partnering with the City of Cactus all summer to collect school supplies for the children of Cactus Elementary School. Missions and Ministry Director Kay Lynn Robson says we are well on our way, but still have a long way to go. If you'd like to donate towards this project, and/or send basic elementary school supplies, send them to:

We thank God for what he has been doing in the Hispanic work of our West Texas District.

During the month of May the churches The Remnant of Crowley TX, Euless First, Arlington First and Jesucristo Vive Arlington gathered to celebrate a spiritual retreat of evangelism called Encounter at Camp Arrowhead. For the glory of God, the Word of God was shared with 20 new people and we had the help of the 40 assistants who joined to serve in the organization of the retreat so that this could be a success. We thank the pastors of these congregations for their support in this vision of making disciples similar to Christ through the Master's Plan. The work continues and the work does not stop.

Our next Encuentro will be in the month of October on days 19 to 21. If there is a pastor interested in attending and learn a little about the implementation of the Master Plan as a strategy of winning and consolidating new souls, please contact us. The coordinator's phone number is 8175210914.

We are deeply grateful to Josh and Terra Edwards of Camp Arrowhead for their excellent service during this and each of the Encounters we have had there.

On the 4th and 5th of May, the annual women's
conference Renuevate 2018 was held and attended by about 80 women who were m inistered and animated with the Word  of God through the theme Renewing our generational l egacy.
During these two days, Claudia Rodríguez shared a word that challenged t hem to leave a spiritual legacy and a blessing to their generations.

The event was held at the Fort Worth First church facilities and we thank them for their support in opening their doors to celebrate this congress.

Among the attendees we had women from our different congregations in our West Texas district as well as the churches of the North East District of Texas, formerly the Dallas District.

We thank Pastor Mirian Davidge for her leadership in organizing this event and for each of the pastors in our district who were part of the leadership team.

During the Pastors' Retreat of 2019 we will be making the call for all the other pastors who wish to join the organization team to start organizing the 2020 retreat.

We ask all congregations in the district to pray for Riverside Church, as we continue to work on finding their new pastor.

So, my beloved brothers, be firm and constant, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your hard work in the Lord is not in vain.
