May 19, 2016
Dear Pastor/Friends,

Blessings in the wonderful name of Jesus! I pray that you are enjoying an exciting and fruitful season of ministry and blessing in your church!

I want to begin by congratulating Pastor Mark Elam of Lantana, who received a stellar sixth-year pastoral review from his church board last week. Mark and Shelly are loved and appreciated by their flock. We rejoice with them!

Also, congratulations to our Mansfield congregation on the selection of their new pastor, Rev. Michael Murphy. Mike and his wife Brenda have been serving in an interim capacity at Mansfield for a number of months and have done an excellent job. I am very pleased that they have been called to, and have accepted, this assignment. I'm confident that great days are ahead for our Mansfield congregation!

As I announced during my report at the district assembly, Rev Joe and Janet Thomas will be stepping down as our managers at Camp Arrowhead at the end of this summer's camping season, in August. Joe and Janet have done a very outstanding job for our district in this capacity and their work is deeply appreciated. Many improvements and upgrades have been made to the campgrounds under their leadership, including the development of the waterfront, the renovation of the tabernacle and boys' dorms, the completion of the activity center, the elimination of the indebtedness...and much more. I can barely express how grateful we are for them.  During the opening service of Family Camp (June 5, 7:00pm) we will be honoring Joe and Janet. Also, there will be a special reception for them held in the dining hall after the service.

As we say thanks to Joe and Janet for their faithful service, we also welcome our new Camp Arrowhead managers, Josh and Terra Edwards. Joe and Janet will be involved in their orientation and training throughout the summer. They will take on full leadership responsibilities in mid-August. Josh and Terra are coming to us from Mt. Hermon Campgrounds in Northern California, where they have served for the past seven years. Mt. Hermon is one of the premier Christian camps in America. Josh is the son of Nazarene pastor (and new ReStart pastor in Pilot Point) Dwayne Edwards. Terra, grew up on a Christian campgrounds, where her parents were the managers. Like Joe and Janet, Josh and Terra have a passion for Christian camping and a very real sense of the Lord's call upon their lives for this special ministry. We will be officially welcoming them during the opening service of Family Camp on June 5th  and getting to know them at the fellowship time after the service.

Speaking of Family Camp, please see the promotional material below. Let's pray that the Lord will richly bless this camp...and all of our camping ministries this summer. Evangelist, Mike Adams was our family camp speaker just a few years ago and was very well received. I know you will be blessed by his ministry. Also, I'm very excited about having Dr. Tim Crutcher from SNU as our Bible teacher in the morning session. His presentation will be entitled "Holiness 101." Pastors, please make sure that your district-licensed ministers know they can receive COS credit under the direction of Pastor Mark Ramsey by participating in the morning sessions and completing some additional prescribed study. Have them contact Pastor Ramsey to enroll. Click here  for more details about our upcoming Family Camp.

We are moving closer to the reopening of the Pilot Point church under its new name, GracePoint Church of the Nazarene. ReStart Pastor, Dwayne Edwards, has recruited a fine group of SNU interns to help him this summer, including our own Brookelyn Crouch of Denton Willowwood. The sanctuary is being updated and they are preparing for a major re-launch on June 12. You can see many exciting videos and updates by following GracePoint Church of the Nazarene on FaceBook, or, visit them at www.gracepointnaz.net .

For you and with you,

Pastor David Downs

 REV. MIKE ADAMS
Rev. Mike Adams is a full-time tenured evangelist in the Church of the Nazarene. He has pastored churches for 21 years, and has served as an evangelist for 20 years. His ministry has taken him to serve in Mexico, Canada, Northern Ireland, Scotland, Spain, Ukraine, Kenya, Tanzania, England, and Uganda. His desire is to bring revivalism and evange lism to the church through a preaching style that is Bible-based, relevant, and frequently humorous, to connect and communicate.

Mike and his wife, Elizabeth, have two sons: Ken, married to Chris, who lives in Orlando with Wesley and Avery Elizabeth; and Rick, married to Alicia, who lives in Pottstown, Pennsylvania with Grace Anne, Maryjane Elizabeth, and Lincoln Tyler.

DR. TIM CRUTCHER
Dr. Tim Crutcher is Professor of Church History and Theology at Southern Nazarene University and an ordained elder in the Church of the Nazarene. A graduate of SNU, Nazarene Theological Seminary and the Catholic University of Louvain, Tim served as a volunteer missionary in Belgium and as a missionary professor in Kenya before coming to SNU in 2003. He lives in Oklahoma City with his wife, Rhonda, and his three wonderful children: Andrew, Alex, and Elizabeth.

Dr. Crutcher will be discussing "Holiness 101: Sanctification Simplified." He will lead the group in exploring the bibli-cal and theological roots of sanctification in a way designed to connect our central doctrine to our everyday lives. We often avoid discussions about holiness because we've lost touch with any practical and workable ways to explain it. However, once we see how sanctification connects to our view of God, our view of humanity, the kind of problem sin is and what God wants to do about that problem, then the doctrine of entire sanctification becomes rather simple and intuitive, something just about anyone of any age can understand and implement in their lives. Dr. Crutcher's Bible study may apply toward partial completion of the Ministers' Course of Study requirement for Doctrine of Holiness. Call Rev. Mark Ramsey for more information at 940-594-6142.

We would like to introduce you to the West Texas District Leaders' Link. This is a new communique designed to help us get prayer requests, announcements and time sensitive information out to our district servant/leaders in an efficient, timely manner.  We pray the Lord will bless our efforts to encourage and inform you through this new instrument.

If you have announcements, such as revival schedules, or prayer requests (after receiving permission from the person(s) involved) you may have them posted on the Leaders Link by sending them to  [email protected]

S ummer is fast approaching and in our efforts to keep children safe and tummies full, we at Grace Tabernacle will be hosting our 3rd annual Summer Feeding and Day Camp program. In the summer of 2014, 119 kids representing 64 families were served. Over 70 volunteers were recruited to help with the day's theme including career day, where children got a chance to see a live cow being milked, sit in a police car and ring the siren, sit in a fire truck and ring it's siren, hear from railroad and aviation engineers, learn about different city jobs and meet a radio personality.
Character building lessons are a part of each day during chapel and 23 kids received counseling for salvation. During our end of camp event, we had 6 children to be baptized including one adult volunteer.

In 2015, we had 300 registered and unfortunately had to turn kids away. We averaged 85 kids per day with the 2nd day of camp having 163 kids! We served 5,726 meals and had volunteers put in over 2,316 hours!  There were 20 kids who received counseling for salvation and 5 were baptized. We are gearing up for this year and could use your help!  While we are seeking volunteers to come out and work with us hands on we also have a wish list. Please visit our website www.fortworthchurch.net for details.

Renuévate 2016
(Renew Yourself)
"Renewing Our Service "
May 6 -7

It has been a privilege to be part of a group of pastors called upon to organize a conference dedicated  to the inspiration and encouragement of Hispanic/Latin ladies from the churches of the West Texas and Dallas districts.

With all certainty, God's perfect plan to bless our women was fulfilled, and once again...to the glory of His name!

This year, as has been the case over the past five years, we've received the support and trust of our dear District Superintendent, Dr. David Downs, who has been present on each of our events, showing us that he loves, believes in, and values the Hispanic people!

We also were blessed to have the support and advice of our Hispanic Coordinators, Rev. Moises Marquez and Rev. Giovanni Monterroso. They were a key and essential blessing, in the fullest sense of the word.

These were the results of that unified effort:

1. In unified Spirit and faith, the women worshiped the King of kings and Lord of lords, giving Him a genuine worship until a brokenness of heart was reached.

2.  They received the Word of God. This year the emphasis was taken out of Joshua 24:15, which in summary states "As for me (husband, spiritual leader) and my house (wife and children), we will serve the Lord."

       a.   For the same reason and under the platform of the conference, this year we called  it " Renuévate Special Edition" , which meant that unlike past years , this year the  husbands were invited to participate and receive this Word: "As for me (husband)  and my house (wife and children), we will serve the Lord."

3. We believed God and with everyone present in the audience (158 people). We declared this Word, with faith and conviction, stating that we and our families will serve God and His work!

4.  God also wanted to inspire and encourage our participants with inspiring testimonies, shared by our District Superintendent, Dr. Downs, our Hispanic coordinators, Rev. Giovani y Moisés Marquez, and messages given by our humble, but highly equipped, speakers, Dr. Freddy Guerrero and his wife Grace (directors of the United Biblical Societies) and by Ethel Davidge (director of Dawn of Hope International). Together they have traveled around the world with the mission of taking the Word of God to all women, challenging them to live according to God's heart and will.

5. All our participating ladies were blessed to receive (for the first time in Renuévate), a beautiful study Bible for Women (ISHA), donated , in part, by the United Biblical Societies of Ecuador, along with a complete booklet with the conference notes, a tote bag and a t-shirt. We also provided breakfast, lunch and refreshments.

6. For the comfort of our ladies, we were able to provide childcare. The children were well taken care of, enjoying clowns and a special time led by Pastor Claudia Vega. Our children also received the beautiful challenge of "serving the Lord."

There is so much to give thanks for! God was glorified through the unity of his people and his servants, who in one voice exclaimed "As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord!"

We want to welcome you NOW to be part of Renuévate 2017!

In Jesus,

Rev. Mirian Davidge

WTNYI President

Dear NMI Leader,

It is an exciting time as we begin a new church year! It is also a time of transition. Because it will take a while to update email addresses received at the conference and in reports, please be patient and please help us!

Changes - If you are no longer an NMI President or West Texas Pastor,  you can help us in two ways.
1) If you are able, forward this important email to the person who is now in charge of NMI.
2) Email us back and ask to be removed from the NMI mailing list, sharing the information of whoever is now in charge of NMI if you have it. Thank you for your help!

Vision Conference  - It was great to be together at the West Texas Vision Conference and Assembly and celebrate how God is moving around the world and in our district. What a GREAT time to be part of the Church!

We want to say thanks again to  Fort Worth First for hosting us so beautifully! What a blessing their great people were to us. I also need to express thanks to the NMI District Council who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to create such a smooth, well-run conference.

Thanks for all of you for your enthusiasm, encouragement, and generosity. We received $2,632.11 for the Buddy Offering, which will help bring International Delegates to the General NMI Convention in 2017. We also received $3,401.68 for our missionary speakers, Barry and Charlie Carney of Paraguay, and collected 70 boxes of Crisis Care Kits (360 kits).

Remember May  = Missionary Care. You can help take care of our missionaries by presenting a Memorial Roll for $50, a Distinguished Service Award for $100, taking a Healthcare Offering, or giving a "Gifts from the Heart" card and donating to Missionary Care.

May = Mail Teen Mission Offering  to District NMI Treasurer.

Looking ahead to June, deputation tours are approaching! Please give these missionaries a warm West Texas welcome!
  • June 20-July 8 Ronald and Shelly Miller (South Africa) on Deputation
  • June 18 - July 21 Scot and Jill Riggins (Philippines) on Deputation
Thanks for the excellent work you do as you lead your congregation to pray, disciple, educate and give.

Let's continue to celebrate the harvest!

Blessings,

Cheryl Crouch, WT NMI President

We need your partnership!

As you know, Cactus Nazarene Ministry Center (CNMC) is a Christ-centered community center, located in Cactus, TX, offering the message of hope in Christ through services that empower people to live successful lives and to reach their full potential. Your partnership makes this possible!

CNMC is fully supported by individual and church contributions. God continues to provide in miraculous ways, but we need your financial partnership to continue refugee and immigrant ministry in Cactus. At this time, giving is at a low, so we need your help! We invite you and your congregation to consider supporting CNMC by committing to give a one-time gift or a monthly contribution. Please feel free to share this in your bulletin and weekly communication with members of your congregation.
