Dear Pastor/Friends,

Congratulations to Pastor Chris, and Kelley, Branigan of Fort Worth Grace Tabernacle, on the birth of their precious new son, Thatcher, who was born last Saturday.  As you can see in this picture, Thatcher's big brother, Cormac, is very proud!

This past Sunday, Susan, Kai, and I had the tremendous privilege of attending the wonderful 75th anniversary celebration in Denver City.  Pastor David Hollon, his wife, Robin, and their leadership team did a fantastic job of leading the congregation in a celebration of the past...while pointing to the future.  It was great to be with Dr. Charles Jones, who spoke on Saturday evening.

During the service, we had a very special time of prayer for David and Robin, asking the Lord to protect and heal David through his upcoming open-heart surgery, which will take place in Houston on October 27th. Please join us in prayer. Perhaps you could lead your congregation in intercessory prayer regarding this during your morning worship service this coming Sunday.

Yesterday, Rev. Tim McPherson, Dean of Advancement at Nazarene Theological Seminary, hosted a luncheon here in Fort Worth for Metro-area WT pastors who wanted to learn more about the exciting things happening at NTS.  We had about 20 who participated (including some who left before this photo was taken.) Special thanks to NTS for hosting this very encouraging and inspirational event!

There is still time to register for the upcoming district "Joyers" (Just Older Youth) retreat that will be held in Lubbock, November 17-18.  Please take a moment to look at the flyer regarding this, which is located just below this article.  Our SDMI Adult Ministries Director, Pastor Michael Page, has really put together a very outstanding retreat.  I know that all who attend will be blessed.

By the time you read this, I will have seen many of you at the "Awakening" Prayer Conference, which is led each year by Pastor Corey Jones and his team at Crossroads Tabernacle. We are anticipating another great conference. I heard that there is record pre-registration, which, incidentally, is free this year! Click HERE to watch The Awakening Live Stream.

Finally, (and this isn't particularly edifying to anyone other than those who participated) I had a great four-day motorcycle tour with several of our pastors earlier this month.  We rode over into New Mexico and spent two nights at Bonita Park, the NM District campground. On our way home, we rode though Caprock Canyons State Park, which is located on the western side of our district, near Turkey, Texas.  The newsletter header picture above, and the buffalo picture of me in the upper corner of this article, were taken in Caprock, which is one of the most beautiful spots on our district. I thank the Lord for good friends and for the beauty of His creation!

For you and with you,

Pastor David Downs

Deputation Thanks
In 2015, Nazarenes gave US $2.68 million in deputation offerings for missionaries, up 23.9 percent from 2014. Thank you for caring for our missionaries in your deputation offerings!

We are exploring new possibilities for 2018 Deputation Tours. In the future, if your church would like to host missionaries as part of a zone service or group of churches, please let your NMI Zone Director know! We plan tours 1 - 2 years ahead, so we need your feedback now for future tours.

NMI has four objectives in which every local church can participate:

Praying
Interceding for leaders and churches and for the Holy Spirit to draw all people to Christ.

Discipling
Involving and mentoring future missions leaders, especially youth and children, to make Christlike disciples for God's mission in the nations.

Giving
Devoting ourselves and our resources, especially the World Evangelism Fund, to extend Christ's kingdom.

Educating
Informing people of the World's needs and enabling our church to meet those needs in Christ.

Please offer mission activities based on these objectives to ensure your church's involvement in God's global mission. By making mission a priority, a congregation demonstrates God's passion for all people.

Churches involved in mission attract people who want to be part of something bigger than themselves!

Looking Ahead:

The International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church will be November 6. The Open Doors Web site offers a free resources to help you be informed, inspired and united in prayer for our brothers and sisters living under the heavy burden of persecution. You can find them  HERE .

Greetings! We are very excited that you are interested in learning more about One Heart - Many Hands, Indy 2017. OHMH is anticipating at least 2,000 volunteers who will make their way to Indianapolis to be a part of this incredible community service project.  Plans for the project are developing rapidly and we are thrilled to share with you what we are planning...

This project is going to be different from other General Assembly projects that we've done in the past.  In 2017, we will be concentrating all our efforts in the east side of Indianapolis... more specifically in the 46201 zip code. Over the course of 5 days, our teams will be making themselves available to repair homes in low-income neighborhoods, clean parks, and paint community and senior centers.

Traditionally, OHMH has been a week-long project and it is true that our General Assembly project is slated for June 18-23, 2017.  However, OHMH is partnering with Shepherd Community Center and the South East Neighborhood Development for a five-year program!  This summer would be the perfect opportunity for you and your group to form a partnership with us in Indy and then to continue serving with us as for one, two, or even five years.

I know that's a lot of information so let me boil it down for you with the specifics...

Date:                    June 18-23, 2017

Where:                Indianapolis, Indiana

Registration:     $195.00 PAID IN FULL before January 31, 2017 and then
$225.00...
Registration closes May 01, 2017
                                             Included in Registration:
* Box lunch
* Insurance
* Program expenses
* Event T-shirt
* Special Events (All additional costs including meals except for lunches listed above, lodging, and transportation are the responsibility of the individual or teams)

Lodging:           OHMH is once again working with University of Indianapolis and for budgeting purposes you can use the following amounts This housing is optional... Each participant is responsible for their housing...

5 Night Option (June 18-23) with no meals = $125.00 per person double occupancy.  If you want to include meals add $75.00 (5 breakfasts and 4 dinners)
7 Night Option (June 18-25) with no meals = $175.00 per person double occupancy.  If you want to include meals add $110.00 (7 breakfasts and 6 dinners)

Now, what are you waiting for?  You and your team will have the opportunity to be a part of a project that will not only transform your lives but change a community as well.  Start today by contacting us at [email protected] to request your registration packet.  We are here to serve you!

"We are not just going to leave the Indy-area better than we found it; we are going to leave the people of the community with a witness to goodness and kindness on a scale larger than they have ever seen. They will come to better understand the true meaning of selfless compassion. What we do now will not only have a positive impact today, but will plant seeds of change that will continue growing for generations."

George A. Sisler,  President One Heart - Many Hands

On October 14 - 16, the congregation of the Jesucristo Vive Church held its first Encounter Retreat under the Master Plan Program. During that weekend, we were able to experience God's presence in an extraordinary way, witnessing people being transformed, delivered and filled with the presence of the Lord.

The testimonies of victory among those who attended are a proof that God is still working in His church and He is still seeking men and women who are willing to make a commitment with Him and serve Him at all cost.

Pastor Tomas and Rossy Rojas from Euless First Hispanic are hosting our next pastors' meeting this coming November 5th. Please make plans to attend as we will be going over important information, like some of our upcoming ministerial courses.

In His service,

Pastor Moises Marquez
WTD Hispanic Ministry Coordinator
