The West Valley Arts Council (WVAC) invites artists to celebrate Hispanic Heritage month by submitting artwork that is either created by Hispanic/Latino artists OR a depiction of Hispanic/Latino Culture by Non-Hispanic artists. Submissions can include anything from photography to paintings, sculpture to installation pieces, digital work to interactive art, and beyond.

Necklace Workshop

Etched Heart Pendant Necklace
August 27th | 10am-12pm

Etching metal is a terrific compliment for many mixed-media art techniques. In this class you will learn how to safely chemically etch a brass metal heart using rubber stamp images. The instructor will guide you through the step by step process. At the completion of the class each student will walk out with their very own completed heart necklace!

Join us at Birt's Bistro for a reception featuring Don Metz an acrylic abstract artist. Light refreshments will be provided.

Memory Arts Bistro- Flamenco
August 18th | 3-4pm
Participants will learn some basic Flamenco dance techniques which draw on using the entire body. Use your mind to learn unusual rhythm patterns and remember a few simple dance movements. Let your Spirit soar and move to the rhythms you have heard using the few simple steps you have been taught as well as a bit of improvisation that comes from within you. All followed by a presentation of live Flamenco dance and music by Un Corazón Flamenco!

Ballet Under The Stars

Ballet Arizona invites residents to spend a relaxing evening under the Arizona sky as they continue their annual season opening tradition with Ballet Under the Stars. The performance will begin at 5:00pm at the Estrella Lakeside Amphitheater (10300 S Estrella Pkwy., Goodyear, AZ). Be sure to come early with your lawn chair or blanket to enjoy activities that begin at 5:30pm.

Learn to punch, kick, flip and throw your fellow actors as convincingly-and as safely-as possible! Introduction to Fight Club focuses on hand to hand combat skills, making every impact as cringeworthy as possible for the audience's entertainment. Members of Fight Club should expect fun and a full body work out! Participants must wear closed toed shoes and movement attire (NO JEANS). Participants do not need any prior experience.

The Glendale Public Art Program is pleased to announce an expansion in funding for arts and culture, the 2016-2017 Centerline Arts and Cultural Initiative. The city has developed this program to motivate, increase and support free cultural events and performances to enrich the quality of life and experiences of all Glendale citizens, while increasing foot traffic in the Centerline District. The Centerline District is bounded by 43rd Avenue to the east, 67th Avenue to the west, Myrtle Avenue to the north, and Ocotillo Road to the south.
