TOGETHER.
SHAPING THE FUTURE.

Dear Friends of Westhab,

Despite its snowy start, 2014 is already shaping up to be another busy and productive year for Westhab and the people and communities that we have the honor to serve.

We've recently launched 2 new Youth Centers- the Bridge Academy at School 13 in Yonkers and the Hyde Leadership Charter School Out-of-School-Time Program in the Bronx - bringing service to an additional 500 young people.

Our Veterans & Young Adult Employment programs continue to thrive (see stories below); creating new housing and job opportunities.

And we have new housing and community development activity in Mamaroneck through our partnership with the Washingtonville Housing Alliance.

We know that we can count on your support in 2014 and we hope that you will join us for our annual Race & Roll event on May 2nd, where we will rev our engines to raise critically needed funds to advance our mission.

Take care,

Richard Nightingale, President & CEO

HOUSING FOR VETERANS

On January 30th, Westhab joined County Executive Rob Astorino and Curtis Ross, a formerly homeless Navy Veteran (right), to celebrate the successful completion of the first one hundred days of Westchester County's 100 Day Challenge, a county-wide movement to end veterans homelessness.

Westhab is a leading provider of housing for homeless veterans in Westchester County. Our services include a 12-unit transitional residence for homeless veterans located in Yonkers, and a partnership with the Veterans Administrations to provide rental subsidies and support services for 33 Veterans throughout the Hudson Valley.

TEENS CREATE POSITIVE CHANGE THROUGH ART

In late January the Westchester Putnam Workforce Investment Board and guests gathered at the Riverfront Library in Yonkers to celebrate the unveiling of two art murals created by youth enrolled in Westhab's Ready, Set, STRIVE program.

STRIVE provides job readiness training, educational advancement and employment placement for at-risk young adults ages 14-24. As part of the program, STRIVE participants positively give back to the community, inspiring their peers to rise above community challenges and make wise decisions for their futures.
