What is a Superhero of Stewardship?
by Tim Wilson, Director of Development and Stewardship

Popular culture is replete with stories of superheroes. Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Captain America and so on have been part of the American landscape for decades. Just in recent years, there have been dozens of superhero movies; but this tradition dates back to the silent film era, long before the magic of computer-generated graphics.

Scripture contains one story after another of superheroes - David, Rachel, Ruth and Moses, to name a few - who preceded Christ, the ultimate Superhero. The New Testament also includes the deeds of other superheroes - Mary, the Disciples, Mary Magdalene, and Paul.

Fall Harvest for Kids -- Benefiting Drake Head Start Preschool

For over 20 years, Westminster Presbyterian Women have supported Drake University Head Start. This school-readiness program is the largest Head Start grantee in the state of Iowa and one of only a few university-based Head Start programs in the nation.

We provide many of their 3- and 4-year-old preschool children with mittens, scarves and hats each fall. In addition to outerwear, other items in constant need are socks, underwear and sweatpants

Monetary donations are also appreciated. Please look for the harvest displays and donation baskets at the Franklin and Allison entrances.

Final collection will be Tuesday, November 14. Thanks in advance for your generosity!

"Salvation - Heaven and Hell"

This study is part of the "Faith Questions" series offered by the PC(USA). It is intended to help us explore  the questions: "What Happens When You Die?" "What Is Heaven Like?" "What Is Hell Like?" and "How Can I Get Into Heaven and Stay Out of Hell?" Faith Questions studies are based on faith questions posed by youth. Each session encourages us to look to Scripture, and our faith tradition, in relevant and responsive ways.

Come to every session or drop in when you can. We offer lively, thoughtful, discussion and a chance to ask your own questions. Classes begins at 9:00 a.m. in Westminster Hall and are hosted by Jack Ratekin.
