January 2014
Dear Friends, What an incredible month it has been here at Areyvut. December started off with Mitzvah Clowning in both Bergen County and New York City! We are thrilled by the number of people we have reached in such a short amount of time. Then it was off to the URJ Biennial in San Diego where we met hundreds of fascinating individuals who are all working for the Jewish people. And finally, we wrapped up our whirl-wind month with the New Year's Day Carnival Extravaganza, which, we are happyto report, went off beautifully! Keep reading for even more Areyvut news.

New Year's Day Carnival Extravaganza
A lot went into planning our New Year's Day Carnival Extravaganza and we were so happy with the result! Nearly 1,500 people joined us yesterday at the Garden State Exhibit Center to enjoy over 15 mechanical and inflatable rides, carnival booths and games, great food, and live shows from the Gizmo Guys comedy jugglers, a BMX stunt show, and The Chicago Boyz from America's Got Talent. This was the largest event we have ever done and are thrilled to have reached so many families!
None of the carnival would have been possible without the help of our volunteers and sponsors. We thank you for your ongoing support and hope you enjoyed yourselves as well!

Mitzvah Clowning for All!
Areyvut Mitzvah Clowns brought smiles and joy to people throughout the area this month. December started out with a training at Westchester Hebrew High School in Mamaroneck, New York. Following the training, WHHS students visited senior citizens in Westchester. The last weekend of December saw a Mitzvah Clowning training at the Yeshiva of Flatbush in Brooklyn, and a site visit at the Haym Salomon Home for Nursing and Rehabilitation.
The Bergen County Mitzvah Clown group also participate in site visits this month. We spent time with senior citizens and children with special needs. If you or someone you know would like to be involved in Mitzvah Clowning, please contact daniel@areyvut.org.

A Teen Philanthropy Experience
| We are pleased to be bringing our Jewish Teen Philanthropy program to Temple Shaaray Tefila of Northern Westchester. We had our first session this past month and are looking forward to many more through the Spring 2014! Teens come together for the purpose of allocating funds, and in the meantime learn leadership skills and all about the needs of their community.
If you are interested in bringing the Jewish Teen Philanthropy Program to your community please contact Daniel at daniel@areyvut.org |
