March is National Nutrition Month

Most of us will concede that we have fallen victim to the hustle and bustle of today's busy world. Who has time to slow down and make thoughtful decisions? You Do!

Our bodies mirror our diets, and what better way to celebrate National Nutrition Month than to challenge yourself to a better you? A few extra minutes a day to pack a healthy lunch, or keeping healthy snacks on hand to avoid buying less healthy options, can make a measurable difference if you maintain these habits.

More and more, research is showing us that chronic inflammation contributes to a number of pain conditions, as well as depression and other mental-health disorders. Adopting an anti-inflammatory diet is just one example of what you can do today to take back control of your health and well-being. For more information on some immediate changes you can make to your diet, see Dr. Kaplan's recommendations on an Anti-Inflammatory Diet, or our article on Food & Mood, by registered dietitian Cheryl Harris.

Medical Mission to Honduras

Every March, the Hackett Hemwall Foundation organizes a group of dedicated physicians who are skilled in prolotherapy, as well as nurses and assistants, for a medical mission to Honduras. This year marks Dr. David Wang's 8th trip to Honduras and he is being accompanied by our newest physician, Dr. Erika LeBaron. Dr. Wang continues in his role as instructor to physicians from around the world in the principles and techniques of prolotherapy. Dr. LeBaron will be among the other doctors providing prolotherapy to the under-served members of the local community.

We look forward to sharing more on Dr. Wang's & Dr. LeBaron's experience with you when they return!
