The chair, from MetroNap, is a not-so-simple recliner that vibrates, plays music and has a helmet-like “privacy visor” to help you fall asleep. It can be found at schools including Wesleyan University, Stanford University Graduate School of Medicine, University of California-San Francisco Carnegie Mellon, the Savannah College of Art and Design and, most recently right here at UNCG!

Red Flag Campaign 
The Red Flag Campaign uses a bystander intervention strategy to address and prevent sexual assault, dating violence, and stalking on college campuses. The campaign encourages friends and other campus community members to say something when they see warning signs ("red flags") for sexual assault, dating violence, or stalking in a friend’s relationship.  http://www.theredflagcampaign.org/

 
Free HIV Testing
Join us from  11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 17  in the  EUC  Cone Ballroom for free HIV &  STI  testing. Co-sponsored by the  Guilford  County Department of Public Health, Wesley Lutheran Campus Ministry, Triad Health Project, and Student Health Services, students can receive screenings for HIV, Chlamydia, Syphilis, and Gonorrhea.

World Day of Social Justice
On Monday, Feb. 20, 2017, the Social Justice and Diversity Initiatives (SJDI) Committee of Housing and Residence Life invite everyone to celebrate the World Day of Social Justice from 12-2 p.m. at the Moran Commons and the Fountain. We are excited to celebrate the diversity and inclusion in our Spartan Nation. The event will include intentional and interactive dialogue centered around not only breaking barriers of inequality but building bridges to foster and sustain the acknowledgment and appreciation of our various identities.

This year’s World Day of Social Justice event focuses on breaking down socially-constructed myths and assumptions associated with one’s identity. Participants are encouraged to come together to dismantle barriers of misunderstanding and to unite to build more inclusive and educated communities of humanity. 

 
Breaking Barriers Events
There is so much to see and do the whole month of February in the residence halls. Breaking Barriers is Housing and Residence Life’s tradition of social justice programming, including recognition of World Day of Social Justice. Breaking Barriers promotes social justice through the deconstruction of the barriers that prevent the interaction and growth of people, cultures, regions, neighborhoods and campuses. Are you a UNCG student who is NOT living on campus right now? Do you want to live on campus next year?  The housing application  for all students not currently living on campus opens on  Feb. 15 at 10 a.m.   Apply by   May 31, 2017,  to be guaranteed housing on campus.
For UNCG Students Currently Living on Campus
Are you interested in living on campus again in 2017-18? Make sure you are aware of the next phase of the housing application process, which begins Feb. 17.

RIO (Recognition/Insight/Open-Willingness) is a 3-week psychoeducational workshop. RECOGNIZE what is important so that you can live with meaning & purpose. Gain INSIGHT into what’s worth paying attention to and what’s mere noisy distraction, and how to separate yourself from your reactions. Learn OPEN-WILLINGNESS so that you can ride life’s roller coaster without getting whiplash. Your life is worth it!

Participants learn about a variety of mindfulness skills to practice in and outside the group. Incorporating mindfulness skills into their daily life, participants become better at managing emotional stress and lead healthier lives. Students are asked to commit to attending all four sessions and practicing the skills between meetings. The required text is Wherever You Go, There You Are by Jon Kabat-Zin. 

Stress GPS

Stress GPS is a two-part workshop where students will learn to examine the difference between stress, distress, and crisis in their lives and will be exposed to appropriate actions to address each.
