Thirty Thousand Days represents the average lifespan today.  Our lives will not continue on forever -- of course we know this.  But do we remember it?   Let's help to keep each other awake.  Let's live fully each day!

This online ezine is published by the ToDo Institute.  Our work is grounded in Japanese Psychology and represents values such as living on purpose, working with attention, cultivating gratitude, and developing compassion for others.

Taking Action: Finishing the Unfinished (and Unstarted)
a distance learning program

Taking Action ad

Imagine 30 days from now. You'll almost be at the midpoint of the year! What plans and goals did you have for this year? Could you use a little help getting those things accomplished that are really important to you? Often our lives are so busy or disorganized that we don't make room for the things that really matter. They get squeezed out, put off, overlooked and almost forgotten. We'd like to help you resurrect those dreams and goals by shining a light on them and providing structure, guidance and a sense of camaraderie as you grab on and move forward.

Past program participants have used the course to complete essays for publication, launch professional practices, file overdue tax returns, build sheds, reorganize filing system, study Japanese, paint rooms, finish dissertations, start gardens, organize reunions, develop fitness routines, change eating habits, organize photos . . . the list goes on and on.

If there's something that you would like to accomplish before the second half of the year begins.

Please join us for the 2012 Taking Action program, beginning on May 23.

How Do You Deal With Deadlines?

by Gregg Krech

Dan Ariely is a Duke University professor that conducted an interesting experiment about ten years ago. He set up three classes, and each class had three weeks to finish three papers. Class A had to turn in all three papers on the last day of class; Class B had to pick three different deadlines and stick to them; and Class C had to turn in one paper a week. If the papers were late, there were severe penalties to the final grade. Which class had the best grades?

A Peek at Procrastination (video)

Procrastination by Johnny Kelly

When you Google procrastination, you get over 16 million entries. Many of us are looking for ways to lick this habit once and for all. It bugs us. It inconveniences others. It complicates life. It's maddening.

This little procrastination video is really worth a few minutes of your time. Besides giving you a good laugh, it will give you a better vantage point from which to view the issue, which can really be helpful. The next time you find yourself driven by that procrastination urge, you just might have the presence of mind to resist it and turn toward the needs of the moment. Rather than floundering blindly, you might be able to see what you're doing and make a different decision on the spot. And you might even find yourself grinning, as you reach past all the countless diversions and find that one thing that needs to be done right now.
