Loving, gentle and kind. . .character that makes a difference in a life.
Are You Tossing Some Seeds?
Listen. What do you make of this? A farmer planted seed. As he scattered the seed, some of it fell on the road and birds ate it. Some fell in the gravel; it sprouted quickly but didn't put down roots, so when the sun came up it withered just as quickly. Some fell in the weeds; as it came up, it was strangled among the weeds and nothing came of it. Some fell on good earth and came up with a flourish, producing a harvest exceeding his wildest dreams.

Sprouting Seedlings

Already in 2017 DPC has welcomed over twelve new lives! Their birth and subsequent visit remain the highlight of this ministry. Seeing the wonder of God's creative hand, with no two babies looking alike, continues to amaze and humble us.

One visit, that stands out, was made by this little girl, only four days old. When her teenage mom first came to the center she was frightened at what a pregnancy meant and her future. While she had family members encouraging her to abort this young mom stood fast, in spite of her fears. Thirty weeks later she walked in a transformed woman. No longer the frightened teen but a relaxed and loving mother. "Labor was so painful but I love her so much!" What a privilege to be a witness to what God can do!

Sweet daughter of God you are making a difference in the lives around you. Your presence has dispelled fear and joined together people who thought it impossible. May you always know how much you are loved by the Father who made you!
Scattering Seed

Numbers are important in our society. Everyone wants to know how many, how much, assessing success on numbers. In Mark Jesus reminds us that it's not the numbers but the faithfulness in doing the work that matters, because you never know where the seeds are going to fall.

Having been in full time ministry for over thirty years I have thrown around a lot of seeds! Through the years I have witnessed seeds that didn't flourish as well as seeds that bloomed. Even here, at Durango Pregnancy Center, my mind can recall the supposed "successes" and "failures." In those moments I remind myself that interacting with any of God's children is never a failure.

God calls us to be faithful seed scatterers, not worried about "how many, "how much" or our "success" rate. We won't always know the final outcome of our scattering and the truth is we may see some seeds fail. But if we don't keep faithfully scattering seed we could miss when fertile soil comes along.
