What do I need to know to land that summer job?
School is almost out and it seems as though parents and teens everywhere are asking the same question. How can I get a summer job? Opportunities are out there, but before you begin making visits and filling out applications there are a few things you should know.

First, gaining job skills early will payoff when teens are applying for educational and employment opportunities in the future. Increase your chances of landing that summer job by following these tips.

Get a head start. Employers, especially those in a tourist market, know well before the season arrives what their employment needs are. Begin your search well before the end of the school year to improve your chances of success.

4-H Youth Development

Camp Mesowannago Day Camp, held at Currituck County Extension Center, is the perfect place for your child's summer fun. 4-H summer day camp provides a safe and fun environment where your child can learn and grow. Youth, ages 5 (must have completed kindergarten) to 12, participate in age appropriate and learning centered activities that encourage new discoveries, new skills, leadership, independence, and friendship.

The Currituck County Cooperative Extension is presenting a "Welcome to Medicare and Medicare Supplemental" information session for those who will be turning 65 years of age, elder caregivers, and others who may be interested. This program is open to anyone who is interested in learning more about Medicare, even if you have been on Medicare for many years. Information to be covered includes basic benefits, supplemental plans, prescription drug plans, and Medicare Advantage plans.
