Greetings!

"What would happen if one woman told the truth about her life?

The world would split open." - poet Muriel Rukeyser

There's been a lot of splitting the world open lately, starting with women rising up to say "no" to sexual abuse even if the perpetrator is rich and famous.  I'm delighted to help foster more truth-and know you will too.

First off, if you can, give yourself the gift of one day at the She Negotiates Leadership Retreat June 30 in Santa Barbara, CA. I promise it will be a great advance for you! (Or if you're a man, give this gift to a woman in your life.)

Conference organizers Victoria Pynchon and Lisa Gates, founders of She Negotiates are determined to give women valuable skills for negotiating career advancement, attaining leadership goals, and getting fair compensation. I'll share the secrets of the No Excuses 9 Ways practical "power tools" for women to embrace their power and lead unlimited lives. Read more.

AND the best part is it's at a spa. Register here.

Exactly What WOULD Happen?

Posts generating the most buzz on my blogs Heartfeldt and 9 Ways this past week have been these---check them out and share your truth if you are so moved:

"Sex, Power, Irony, and Why Maria Shriver Will Be Back"

I couldn't resist observing the yummy irony in the fact that the woman who brought down this powerful man is near the bottom rung of social power, a household worker. Sexual hubris and belief in their own entitlement to whatever they want, whenever they want it, including women's bodies, is a common thread between men like Schwarzenegger and the recently deposed International Monetary Fund head Dominique Strauss-Kahn, also brought low by a domestic worker whom he apparently thought would be thrilled to be jumped on by a man twice her age leaping naked out of the bathroom. Are these men like babies who think people can't see them when they have blankets over their heads?

(Also check out this San Francisco Chronicle article in which I'm interviewed on the topic.)

"Friday Roundup: April Was Sexual Abuse Awareness Month but May Brings It Front and Center"

In Friday Roundups, I scour the web for the most interesting op eds and news on the topic of the week--last week the biggest topic was way too obvious.

(Female) "Nobel Laureates Fight Sexual Assault"

This post has important and timely action items, so please click on it right away-do something and say something. You can make a difference globally.

Sheer Self-Promotion-Help Me Get More Votes Than Michelle Malkin

 Circle of Moms

This won't split the world open, but I sure would appreciate it if you'd  and vote for me (Heartfeldt)
to be the top Political Mom Blogger. I'm honored to be chosen one of 25 top political mom bloggers by the Circle of Moms website. But, you know, I'm a little competitive, even though I've also voted for others of my fave truth- telling women such as Viva la Feminista, PunditMom, About.com Women's Issues, Writes Like She Talks, MOMocrats, and the Radical Housewife. You can vote once a day till June 1. There are no prizes--the main thing is you gotta keep me ahead of Michelle Malkin, OK? Thank you! Remember, vote early and often here.

Great audience at Bookoman in Austin--truth teller Sarah Weddington (attorney who won Roe v Wade) came and shared her thoughts too.

Bookwoman audience Sarah-Bookwoman

And another full house at Houston's Brazos Bookstore!

Thanks Texas!

I leave you with another beautiful thought from feminist poet Muriel Rukeyser:

In time of crisis, we summon up our strength. Then, if we are lucky, we are able to call every resource, every forgotten image that can leap to our quickening, every memory that can make us know our power.
