Life... Fulfilled.

Finding Purpose

We come to the end of our series, Life... Fulfilled. In the past weeks we looked at what it meant to have joy in life rather than just happiness, integrity instead of inauthenticity, and a life in community away from loneliness.

This week we put it all together in search of finding our purpose in life. The text comes from James 1:19-27. In this passage, we ask ourselves what is God really saying to us and what is God wanting us to do. We put our professions of faith and our daily actions together to live a life true to our calling.

Come and join me this Sunday as we share testimonies from our missionary, Brooke Collins, and learn of many opportunities to serve in the local missions around us.

Blessings,

Pastor Elbert

Volunteers needed!  Monday, September 30, 5:30-7 PM

On the last Monday of every month, First Church provides and serves food, and enjoys fellowship with families and other people in need of a nutritious, hot meal at the Normal Heights UMC, 4650 Mansfield St.

Each month we serve around 200 people and this time we need about 10 more volunteers who can bring a casserole, salad or dessert. Email Brenda Blake, Director of Church and Community Work, if you would like to help.

W.E. Can
W.E. CAN
One of the goals for the Water's Edge congregation this year is to support our First Church Food Ministry: Loaves and Fishes. Besides canned food items, milk, eggs, and bread are always welcome. You may leave your donations in The Cove, or in Linder Hall.

Last Sunday was "Birthday Sunday" at W.E.
We finally got around to celebrating all the July, August and September birthdays. Thanks, Chris Durrand, for donating the cake and to the photographer Fred Peter!
