Home Improvement
GRADD recently secured more than $800,000 in federal and state grants for a major housing project in Union County that will help construct 10 new homes for low-income residents.

Bluegrass Build-Ready 
Lt. Gov. Crit Luallen joined state and local officials in Beaver Dam on April 28 to celebrate Kentucky's fifth Build-Ready certified site at the Bluegrass Crossings Business Centre.

Maintenance Money
GRADD has approved a $250,000 low-interest Infrastructure Revolving Loan Fund (IRLF) loan to help Ohio County Road Department purchase equipment to maintain its 600+ miles of roads.

Volunteer Award
AmeriCorps member Marti Posey was named GRADD Volunteer of the Year, recognized for her work with area seniors, during the 2015 Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon on April 16.

Taking a Stand 
GRADD's CCC and KY DCBS sponsored the annual Stand Against Child Abuse on April 30. Citizens gathered along Frederica Street in Owensboro to enjoy an afternoon of awareness and fun.

End of an Era 
After 42 years, GRADD is turning over sponsorship of the Arts & Crafts Festival to Henderson Lions Club. The annual autumn event draws thousands of visitors to Audubon State Park.

Grant Groundwork
GRADD staff is currently conducting Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) surveys in McHenry and Waverly to see if they are eligible to receive funds for new fire stations.

Youth Job Fair
The Green River Workforce Investment Board (WIB) Youth Council sponsored a Youth Job Fair for individuals age 16-21 at Henderson Community College's Sandy Lee Watkins Lab on March 17.

Parenting Workshops
GRADD's Community Collaboration for Children (CCC) sponsored two special trainings this spring -- Growing Families Together and Celebrate Calm -- to help parents and professionals.

Long-Range Roadmap
The Owensboro-Daviess County MPO's Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) has prioritized the area's "unscheduled needs list" of desired transportation projects over the next 25 years.

Suwanski Saluted 
During Older Americans Month in May, GRADD honored local journalist Rich Suwanski (a 41-year veteran of the Messenger-Inquirer) for his reporting on aging issues in our region.

In Memoriam
Dan Quirey, who served more than 29 years on the GRADD Board, died April 19. He was mayor of Sturgis for over 14 years, following a distinguished career with the U.S. Navy and NASA.
