Office Manager for Clergy and Ministries
Over the past few weeks, we have been assessing our needs to determine what we can do to cover some of what Leslie Ross used to do. Much of what Leslie did for St. Gregory's is irreplaceable. What stood out is that we need a person that can be a backup to the Parish Administrator along with giving support to our Clergy and Ministries. This all had to remain within budget. With the assistance from the HR Committee, we have developed a job description for the Office Manager for Clergy and Ministries. We will begin the recruiting process shortly so that the position can be filled by mid-summer. Moving forward, a key change is that we are going to rely even more heavily on our Office Angels to be daily greeters when people come into the office and to cover the Reception Desk.

Diane Jones (a former Parishioner) has agreed to help out as the Interim Office Manager for Clergy and Ministries until we fill the position. Diane will be located in the office by the reception desk two or three days per week. It is going to be a pleasure working with Diane.  If you are around the church, stop in and say hello to her.

What is Happening? Happening is a Christian experience presented by teenagers, for teenagers with the help of clergy and lay adult leadership. The Happening program is meant to be one of the instruments within the Anglican Tradition of renewing the Christian church in the power of the Holy Spirit, so that the church may more readily respond to its call to spread the Kingdom of God throughout the world. It seeks to achieve this purpose by bringing young persons and adults to fuller personal knowledge of and relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ and to a deeper level of commitment and apostleship.

Saturday, April 22 is Earth Day!
Earth Day is an annual event marked across the world to show support for environmental protection.  It began after a devastating oil spill more than 50 years ago prompted a group of peace activists to raise environmental awareness.

At a UNESCO conference in San Francisco in 1969, peace activist John McConnell proposed that a day should be set aside to honor the Earth and the environment.  He believed that humans had an obligation to protect the earth and share its resources with future generations. The first Earth Day took place the following year in 1970.

There are many activities planned in our area to celebrate Earth Day.  Here are a few:

Daggerwing Nature Center is planning a family friendly event that will feature live animal encounters, crafts, story times, environmental science demonstrations, native plant raffle, exhibitors, lady bug release, and much more.  The theme this year is to reduce, reuse, recycle and refuse.   Activities are schedule from 10am to 2:00pm.  The Center is located at 11435 Park Access Road.

Gumbo Limbo Nature Center is inviting everyone to become a part of the Earth Day  global movement by attending their free film screening of "A Plastic Ocean" on Earth Day, April 22. Space is limited.

7:00-7:45 PM Doors open and aquarium viewings
7:45-9:45 PM Film Screening
Light movie snacks and refreshments will be provided
Movie shown on lawn... bring your own chair or towel.
We recommend you bring bug spray - please use in the parking lot.

An Evening of Remembrance, Fellowship, Film, Food & Faith
Armenian Genocide Commemoration, Inc. & Congregation B'nai Israel present
An Evening of Remembrance,
Fellowship, Film, Food & Faith - April 23rd at 6 PM
Join us in Boca Raton, FL as we observe Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day and Yom HaShoah (Holocaust Remembrance Day), which both fall on the same date this year.

Our evening will begin with complimentary refreshments and appetizers, followed by a brief discussion on the Armenian Genocide and the Holocaust with members of both communities.

We will then screen the acclaimed film DENIAL. Based on the book Denial: Holocaust History on Trial, DENIAL recounts Deborah E. Lipstadt's (Academy Award® winner Rachel Weisz) legal battle for historical truth against David Irving (BAFTA nominee Timothy Spall), who accused her of libel when she declared him a Holocaust denier. In the English legal system, in cases of libel, the burden of proof is on the defendant, therefore it was up to Lipstadt and her legal team, led by Richard Rampton (Academy Award® nominee Tom Wilkinson), to prove the essential truth that the Holocaust occurred.

The evening will conclude with a candlelit prayer service.
Event Address: Congregation B'nai Israel

Join Us In Prayer
We ask you to join us in a prayer during this Easter Season.

We thank you that Easter is not about a people, but all people, that your love and your Salvation are for all who confess with voices, hearts and lives that the tomb is empty because Jesus is risen, that we might know forgiveness, that lives might be reborn and your name glorified  now and for eternity. Amen.
