Local Students Create Anti-Smoking Artwork on Display
at Inspira Medical Center Elmer

SALEM, NJ (November 18, 2014) - Pittsgrove Township Middle School students, grades six, seventh, and eight, recently created "Tobacco Free for a Healthy Me" themed posters as a project for the American Cancer Society's Great American Smokeout on November 20. The anti-smoking student artwork, currently on display in the lobby at Inspira Medical Center Elmer, is aimed at making public areas like parks, sports fields and playgrounds tobacco-free.

Elmer Borough recently passed a smoke-free property ordinance and a similar ordinance has been discussed in Pittsgrove Township. The student posters will be on display at the hospital from November 17 through the 21. Visitors are welcome to vote on their favorite poster and one winner will be chosen from each grade.

The American Cancer Society marks the Great American Smokeout on the third Thursday of November each year by encouraging smokers to use the date to make a plan to quit, or to plan in advance and quit smoking that day. For those who would like help to quit smoking, please call the NJ Quitline at 1-866-NJSTOPS or Inspira Cancer Services at (856) 641-8670.
